  • What audio track do you get on apple? I'd guess Dolby Digital+ 768kbps 7.1 like every other streaming platform?

    • At best. In this bundle it looks like the first two are only 5.1

      • +1

Thanks, guess we never getting uncompressed audio on streaming

    Also $4.99 each

This is a must own box set on 4k blu ray.

    To buy… But not own.

    • +1

You're not buying anything, think of it as a donation for usage.

      • Exactly!

  • +5

You're not buying it. You letting them store it in your garage - one day they'll take the car back.

    • +1

      Yep,
You'll "own it" for as long as they want you to. A simple change of "terms of conditions" and POOF, they're gone.

  • To “rent”

  • +1

Just download it from a torrent site.

for the life of me, who does spend $15 to watch a movie in streaming? how is this a deal?

    • It’s three movies and the 4K presentation on applet tv is very decent.

      • +1

but you can download them with the same or higher quality for $0

        • +2

And the day licensing rights change your 'product' is gone

Me. I have just under 1000 movies and dozens on TV shows on Apple, and a seperate, often duplicate pile of physical media, collected over years - nearly always during sales/discounts.

I pay for the convenience, safety and quality, but also because I'm an author & filmmaker and I respect fellow artists & friends.

Stories mean the world to me, it's a craft I've dedicated my entire life to. Paying honours & encourages that craft.

I understand why people sail the seas, I really do - especially in this increasingly shitty, fragmented landscape of a billion overpriced streaming services, but not everyone steals the work of artists.

      • +1

I support the artists by going at the movies when a film I'm interested in comes out. I'd pay to own a physical blu-ray of a film I really love and want to watch in the best quality possible. I'd be ok in paying a fair amount for a streaming service that has all the movies available, like Spotify is for musi. But in no way I'd pay to stream one movie, and not own anything. It just makes no sense to me.

These three movies are awesome - BUT are dating back to 2005, 2008 & 2012 respectively.

    but if you support filmmakers

    let’s kid not ourselves here.
It’s not supporting filmmakers. It’s milking a dead horse whilst they can - to line the pockets of the cats at the top, not the film makers.

    • Yep. And how are you better than that, as a thief?

      • Is it thievery if my friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend decided that their copy of the movie will be lent to me, or I go over to their place for a viewing once?

I think you mistake thievery for profiteering off the backs of another, which is what apple is doing.

      • -1

Yep. And how are you better than that, as a thief?

        Defensive AND condescending, aren’t you?

        To answer your question:

I’m better by not forking money to apple (fyi - who take a big cut in the revenue of the sale of the movies on their platform) - and instead choose to actually buying them (if I want to) and own them in a physical form.

the cross platform convenience of Apple's ecosystem

It’s insane to waste money and time to rewatch the same movies on and on and on - even if I can - on multiple platforms or the same eco system, as you say.

Thats among the reasons why the big cats continue to milk their old movies digitally, instead of actually innovating or creating new IP. Again, one of the many reasons is because folks who buy these old shit make it far less easy for them to avoid doing so for as long as they can stretch it.
