Hi Rep, what price do you normally sell this for?

    • -6

It's $99. Good deal. I know you're all edgelord about it because it impresses the JVs of the world, but doing it on every post is so … boring. Not clever, just repetitively dull.

Nah I will keep doing my thing, thanks anyway. Hope you are well, have a great weekend.

      • That's not an Edgelord. This is an Edgelord.

        (I'm pointing at me)

    Thank you OP.

Is a good deal, Methven do make high quality fittings - while I am not a huge fan of the black it will go as well or better with the stainless fittings I have than chrome ones - and I needed a new shower rail soon.

Also grabbed a 900mm towel rail, stainless steel and very good price - free post on all, nice deal indeed.

  • Is this one with or without lead?

    • -4

Hi, lead rules are only applicable for tapware, not the showers. Thanks

      • +1

I understand that. I also understand that those rules are very late and limited in scope (as you pointed out); Australia is frankly lagging other first world nations and regions in this regard. I would also expect a responsible supplier and manufacturer of showers and tapware to seek to put health and safety of their customers first and foremost and to go above and beyond Australia's lagging minimum standards for all their products. So, does this shower come with or without lead? I'm hoping that the references to "quality materials" on the website means it's lead-free. I certainly wouldn't want myself or anyone in my family to be showering themselves with lead ions if it can be avoided.

        • +1

I simply take their answer as a very indirect "yes".

        • +2

It's generally safe to assume if there's any mention of brass and they don't explicitly say lead-free, it's likely to be leaded brass. Copper is a bit more nuanced, usually copper fittings are fine but if there's' any chance of an alloy, e.g. in larger copper parts, you could be dealing with a leaded alloy.

Products compliant with the updated PCA requirement will carry the "Lead Free WaterMark" logo rather than the old "W" logo, so they can be identified pretty easily. Unsurprisingly we're under a year out from it being enforced and it's still relatively hard to find products with it…

          bland government info

          • @schquid: It's worth remembering that this Lead Free standard is new - every single one of us reading this, probably have lead in our existing tapware.

Unless you've gone to the trouble of swapping it for definitive lead free versions, your existing shower probably uses leaded brass…

        • So I shouldn’t be drinking out of the shower?!

  • Don't wanna be a Negative Nancy (and I might actually purchase one of these) but the black hose isn't covered by anything metallic (I don't know how to explain those common ones) and I've seen some complaints and photos of bulging and weird shapes. And I've just installed an extra-hot hot water system (60 degrees model). Purchase at own risk. But don't purchase the last one available, please.

Same item at tradelink for a RRP of $440 not $523 https://tradelink.com.au/rere-rail-showermatte-black-192408/…

It looks like ozbargain has become the weekly dumping ground for elvor.com.au to advertise their goods.

Their prices might be cheap on some items, but I don't like shops that inflate their prices above RRP.

While I’ve noticed your repeated negative comments on our posts, I do want to acknowledge the time you’ve taken to look into the product. That said, I’d like to clarify a few points for accuracy:

RRP (Recommended Retail Price) is set by the manufacturer. In this case, our benchmark is Methven’s pricing, not Tradelink’s.

If a retailer such as Tradelink chooses to sell below RRP, that is their business decision, but it does not reset or redefine the benchmark price for us.

We welcome constructive feedback, but I’d kindly ask that you refrain from posting unfounded negative remarks if you’re not genuinely interested in the product. Ultimately, how we engage online reflects our own professionalism and ethics.

      Thanks again
