Hi Rep, what price do you normally sell this for?

    • -7

It's $99. Good deal. I know you're all edgelord about it because it impresses the JVs of the world, but doing it on every post is so … boring. Not clever, just repetitively dull.

      • +4

Nah I will keep doing my thing, thanks anyway. Hope you are well, have a great weekend.

      • That's not an Edgelord. This is an Edgelord.

        (I'm pointing at me)

    Thank you OP.

Is a good deal, Methven do make high quality fittings - while I am not a huge fan of the black it will go as well or better with the stainless fittings I have than chrome ones - and I needed a new shower rail soon.

Also grabbed a 900mm towel rail, stainless steel and very good price - free post on all, nice deal indeed.

Is this one with or without lead?

    • -4

Hi, lead rules are only applicable for tapware, not the showers. Thanks

      • +2

I understand that. I also understand that those rules are very late and limited in scope (as you pointed out); Australia is frankly lagging other first world nations and regions in this regard. I would also expect a responsible supplier and manufacturer of showers and tapware to seek to put health and safety of their customers first and foremost and to go above and beyond Australia's lagging minimum standards for all their products. So, does this shower come with or without lead? I'm hoping that the references to "quality materials" on the website means it's lead-free. I certainly wouldn't want myself or anyone in my family to be showering themselves with lead ions if it can be avoided.

        • +1

I simply take their answer as a very indirect "yes".

        • +2

It's generally safe to assume if there's any mention of brass and they don't explicitly say lead-free, it's likely to be leaded brass. Copper is a bit more nuanced, usually copper fittings are fine but if there's' any chance of an alloy, e.g. in larger copper parts, you could be dealing with a leaded alloy.

Products compliant with the updated PCA requirement will carry the "Lead Free WaterMark" logo rather than the old "W" logo, so they can be identified pretty easily. Unsurprisingly we're under a year out from it being enforced and it's still relatively hard to find products with it…

          bland government info

          • +1

@schquid: It's worth remembering that this Lead Free standard is new - every single one of us reading this, probably have lead in our existing tapware.

Unless you've gone to the trouble of swapping it for definitive lead free versions, your existing shower probably uses leaded brass…

        • So I shouldn’t be drinking out of the shower?!

  • Don't wanna be a Negative Nancy (and I might actually purchase one of these) but the black hose isn't covered by anything metallic (I don't know how to explain those common ones) and I've seen some complaints and photos of bulging and weird shapes. And I've just installed an extra-hot hot water system (60 degrees model). Purchase at own risk. But don't purchase the last one available, please.

Same item at tradelink for a RRP of $440 not $523 https://tradelink.com.au/rere-rail-showermatte-black-192408/…

It looks like ozbargain has become the weekly dumping ground for elvor.com.au to advertise their goods.

Their prices might be cheap on some items, but I don't like shops that inflate their prices above RRP.

While I’ve noticed your repeated negative comments on our posts, I do want to acknowledge the time you’ve taken to look into the product. That said, I’d like to clarify a few points for accuracy:

RRP (Recommended Retail Price) is set by the manufacturer. In this case, our benchmark is Methven’s pricing, not Tradelink’s.

If a retailer such as Tradelink chooses to sell below RRP, that is their business decision, but it does not reset or redefine the benchmark price for us.

We welcome constructive feedback, but I’d kindly ask that you refrain from posting unfounded negative remarks if you’re not genuinely interested in the product. Ultimately, how we engage online reflects our own professionalism and ethics.

      Thanks again

  • Thanks OP.

      Thanks for your support.

      • Any idea on if you are getting any more of these in?

        • Hi, thanks for reaching out. The item is back in stock.
          Thanks

      • Hi Op, I have ordered the chrome shower rail. Just wondering how quickly you dispatch these as I can see some people in your earlier Ozbargain posts not receive orders quickly? My order is 1447.

        • Op, Ignore message as just got postage notification. Thanks

Take my +1 vote, not sure which happy soul negged you for asking such a thing.

FWIW I'm a little mixed on the first 'Elvor' order I've made. Price, range - all excellent. However since my order was placed on Saturday, a full 5 days ago there's been zero movement on my order or any updates as to whats happening with it.

Now I'll give some credit here - I called to amend part of my order, got a helpful young guy who said he'd remove the item I didn't need - but I got odd info from him about part of my order not being available and him sending me a list of alternatives - which I said fine to. That was 24hrs+ ago and again nothing from them

I mean I suspect they're a small operation - the phone they answered they picked up like a personal line not a business one - but folks get itchy when they have no idea whats going on with their orders. Some updates or atleast an accurate insight into this on their website is a minimum standard in 2025.

      Their website states the following:

Orders are typically processed within 1–2 business days. During high-demand periods, processing may take slightly longer.

Unless late September is some peak period for them - then this is simply a self set standard they're not keeping up with. So folks are justified being a tad underwhelmed, from other posts/deals seems this is not a one off.

I am sorry for your experience. Can I please check if everything in your order was delivered? If you still have any issues, could you please inbox me your order number? I will look at it and resolve it ASAP for you. Thanks

    • Dear customer, I have already raised your issue. Someone from the team shall reach out to you straightaway to resolve this.
      Thanks for reaching out.

      • @Narellan2025

Whilst I appreciate the offer of clarifying what is happening with my order from a full week ago - I messaged you (as you requested I do) at 8.51am 26SEP, and as of time of writing you've been on the site atleast twice and I'm still yet to receive any word of whats happening with my order.

Your definition of 'straightaway' and mine seems to differ a tad. ;-)

          Dear customer,

I have been advised that your order has been processed and is ready for pick up by the courier company. I understand that you had ordered two items and had cancelled one of them due to the size issues, your refund was processed yesterday as well.

One of the staffs has tried to call you to see if there are any other issues.

          Thanks

          • @Narellan2025: Hi,

Look I won't bore those in the thread with personal matters - but there's some incorrect comms on your end and the lack of clarity pertaining to the order, from a customer's perspective is at best confusing.

My order seems to have been delayed by something on your end, I contacted and asked for an item to be removed as I could not fit it. Your staff member kindly did this - but oddly he advised that he had a note on my order that the other item wasn't in stock and I had to pick an alternative. He said he would email this to me - several days later no contact, made extra odd as the item was instock with quite a few items on your store & also your Ebay store.

Anyway no big deal in the end - I'll give you guys a crack again for my next order, I'm sure it was just a one off. Cheers.

We don’t use OzBargain to resolve individual customer queries

Neg for being non-transparent and ignoring questions then.
