  • Just checking if this sort of system can support a household with power in case of a power outage? Also, I think you need to move the decimal point in your description for the kWh battery.

  • 42 or 4.2?

    • Sorry for the typo - 41.93kWh. Corrected now.

      • Hi Steven,

        Questions:

        1. Does the unit have the inverter built-in?

        2. Inverter dimensions please - ultra unit if the units have different sizes

        3. Would it interfere with existing Fronius Gen24 solar inverter?

Shop rep ignored your question. Imagine having to go through a warranty claim and likely being ghosted too.

          • +2

@Lucille Bluth: I hear you. The rep seems to be ignoring lots of questions from this and the last post and just providing the same generic comment below. The best case is the rep is lazy. I don’t want to speculate on the worst case!

            Hello everyone,

Thank you for all your questions.

Please use the link in this post, alternatively you can call us directly on 1800 975 270 or WhatsApp/text 0470 440 970 for quicker assistance.

            • @freeb1e4me: Rep probably does not know.

There was someone selling batteries in the mall. I asked him if the inverter can be DC coupled.
He said "yeah..I don't know that, im just sales, call support".

Nah … Sales has demonstrated more than enough..

              • @tunzafun001:

                Rep probably does not know.

That could be the case. If so, what does it say about a business that has reps that don’t know much about the product?

  • Might want to fix the description, all bundles are listed as a 4.193kWh battery when the deal is for a 41.93kWh battery.

    • +1

Sorry for the typo - 41.93kWh. Corrected now. Thank you for picking it up.

  • Woah, Ultra Plus! Even Samsung don't do that!!

  • Are these better than sigenergy batteries?

    • +1

      Definitely not.

      • why def not? what researcch have u done

        • -5

Too long to list, you can search or task AI to have a detailed response. However, features, safety, integration profile, management interface etc.

          • @Kapitoshka: You are correct, all the cheapos here have no idea what their talking about.
Theyre trying to squeeze blood from a stone ….

        • -1

Ive done plenty of research and sigenergy are way ahead in every way.
Why dont you do the research ?

          • @Tsapena: yeah my bad i thought these batteries were at the same cost…

yeah obviously if something is gonna cost 3x more id expect to be much much better.

        • +3

To put it simply, right now Sigenergy has everything all the other brands do but none of the other brand has everything Sigenergy does.
AC/DC Charger integration (AC charger is sadly having quite a number of software bugs while DC Charger is solid). DC Charger is Bi-Directional and the ONLY Bi-di charger available to the public right now. All other Bi-di chargers excluding the Qasar CHAdeMO (discontinued) are still in limited testing phase.
Modular, highest capacity per stack (48kWh useable, with 60kWh useable on the horizon), 100% Depth of Discharge
Several layers of battery protection including active fire suppression
Inverters go all the way to 12kW for Single Phase and 30kW for 3 Phase
Full house backup via Gateway, the new Gateway is very very solid although the old Gateway isn't bad either (I have the old SP gateway)
DC Optimiser allow mix-match of old and new battery modules
Ability to mix match 5kWh and 8kWh battery modules

You will find that no other brand on the market right now has all of these. A lot of the big brand names are still playing catch up to implement their DC Bi-di chargers or even mix-matching different battery modules.

      • -1

        Based on? Marketing?

    • +2

Lolz no. Based on online reviews doesn't even come close to Sigenstor.

    • Sigenergy has a lot more features but is more than double the price.

    • Sigenergy batteries are probably better. But the real question is…which is better value for money?

Sigenergy is approximately 3x the cost.

  • Looks like a long way to go to check out the showroom for people in SA

  • Is there still a $2k surcharge for ACT installs?

  • +3

Hi OP, just want to confirm the new lower prices will be applied to those of us who signed up from your last post?

    • Must be a long wait for an install…

      • haha, no idea to be honest. I signed up to 4 systems and have not had any contact after completing the paperwork and sending in some photos

        • +2

4 systems? How many houses you got man? lol

Not sure about this mod. In the last deal they claimed prices were going up to get people to sign up quickly. As you can see in this deal the prices have actually gone down!

      • 10 business days (2 weeks) calling off period before the company will even look at it.

  • What is the price for an AC Coupled battery only install?

    • Literally in the OP

      • -1

It's not AC coupled. Not sure if installed price.

  • Do you have any OzBargain deals including solar panels?

  • Is it approved for VPP?

    • It must be, otherwise they wouldn't be able to sell it with the rebate.

  • Is it compatible with Amber?

    • A 2 second Google says it is in beta for amber.

    • Not with Amber smartshift but self managed yes.

  • need to work out a deal on our meter box being 45 metres from house. $100 meter after 10 meters makes this not a very good deal.

    • where the switchboard located?

      • at top of driveway. is a semi rural property

    • I reckon that's the Chinese way of saying "we won't do it". The cable cost is circa $10/m iirc

  • -2

Negative vote. Does not install in Ergon network in Queensland which is about 85% of the state. So no, does not install in "QLD".

    • I think Energex covers some areas like Southeast QLD where are eligible for this?

  • +1

Hey mate will you honour the new prices for us who signed up on the previous deal?

    • I signed the dotted line the other day too.

  • +2

    Offer expires 30 September 2025

That was the same time as the previous offer. The one where the price kept changing and the OP got put in the penalty box.

Geez this is cheap. Would jump on it but in VIC.

Anyone know any good Fox ESS installers for VIC?

    • Try sparkin, they did my solar. And I'm getting battery from them shortly

      • Which Sparkin? Looks like there’s a couple in Vic.

  • Crap! Just signed up for the ultra on Friday for $7499. Can I get $100 off?

  • How does the 16k rebate work? The goverment rebate is 30% meaning the $5k price would be around $7.5k before the discount. As such a 2.5k discount? Am i missing something? 5k seems cheap for a system of this size.

  • Anyone know if you could move a couple of stacks later on with minimal issue?

Ie. Buy 40kwh battery. But move next year. Sell the house with 10kwh, take 30kwh with you to new house etc

    • dont see why not. might cost some $ to get it done but yeah

    • Next year might have a different rebate renewed Jan, someone said.

      • Yeah, indexed. Drops at end of year. Lesser rebate Jan 1.

  • Why it is $300 (including $100 for ozbers) cheaper than the last deal a week ago already? And how is the quality of the battery compared to like Tesla battery, Aldi battery, or the Sigen battery offered by RACQ? I know the prices are different.

And what is the cost to instal a three-phase connection? Someone said very high.

  • how does mppt’s work with batteries,I always thought they are related to solar?

    • I am sure that relates to the inverter. It is a hybrid inverter, so you can use it for solar as well.

    • Feed the solar panels into the batteries (DC coupled). ie. The batteries come with an inverter

Fox ess batteries what’s the model .. have to be EQ4800-L9

  • Is the plus option just 2x 5kw inverters?

  • How much wiring is included and how much is per metre for additional wiring?

    • seems to be 10 m included than $100 dollars a metre after that which is making it a dealbreaker for me at 45 metres from meterbox

  • Buy cheap. Claim rebate
    Have issues
Replace and buy more expensive and you cannot claim rebate.

Do it once, do it properly

    • +1

      That's what warranty is for.

Tho fox ess is a fairly new brand.

I'd say buy cheap modular system and hit ROI ASAP.

Such as battery supports multiple inverter brands and master/slave per unit control setup without a dedicated control unit.

May or may not replace the broken part only after that.

  • Up to a 41.93kWh Battery capacity ?? The price seems way too cheap to me.. and you know what they say .. if it’s too good to be true.

    • The STC's completely cover the wholesale cost of these batteries (and even solar). So really all your paying for is the install and support.

  • Are other states have more rebate than Victoria? How much in Victoria?

  • I'd be a bit concerned with the low throughput of 3.7mwh per battery(per 1wkh) and the 70% capacity warranty specs.

The reviews are pretty mixed stating lack of ac coupling, inproper module balancing, if you stack different kwh or older or newer batteries and they won't balance properly whkle charging) and no inbuilt fire protection.

I'm with the others above, buy once, buy right for rebate. Unless you house it outside or in a garage with 3 layers of Fyrchek s you can escape the house while it burns.

I'd say stick with Sigenergy, BYD or Tesla. Or check out the new Anker range, Sungrow or upcoming Fronuis

    • +2

Problem with “buying right” is even with rebates, the ROI is greater than the warranty period.

We are a typical household, using 20kwh or so a day, and with some base assumptions (3.5% electricity increase per year, inflation and opportunity lost on cash)- best ROI I could get on Sigenergy was 11 years.

      Makes no sense.

      • Just realised this isnt in vic.
Might not be applicable for your use case and just realised the above deal doesnt include Victoria. As mine is Vic based Jemena grid side 30-35kwh usage per day ad adding an EV next year.

With current price we are paying around $9-11 daily, 4 bed, 3 bath, 3 splits, induction, elec hot water. Estimated payout is 4.7-6 years. Also means running aircons longer and slowly upgrading the windows to double flazing rather than spending 2-3 times the solar amount.

Totat cost with multiple rebates, stc, gas removal(220), induction hob 75% off ozbargain special + vic rebate + install same time as solar(125), $17340 total

24kwh sigenergy battery stack, 10kw single phase, backup gateway, bollars, 9.85kw solar panels Jinko on roof.

Only thing to add nest is EV charger, which will be 7kw AC off the smart port from the gateway.

Depending on state, vehicles, any gas appliances, you could get away with an 8kw inverter, 16kwh of batteries and 5-7kw solar panels for self consumption and potentiwlly even dump in a few kwh each night into the grid via Amber or Ovo or VPP it.

I'm also a massive nerd, so getting to play with home assistant and monitoring the wholesale electrical market is pretty fun in itself

        • OVO also buy in? I heard Amber buys as high as 60c/kWh. Do you need to pay for the membership to get access to monitoring?

  • Hm what's up with them jacking the price up 1k last time, dropping back to the deal price and now offering $100 off? And then the extra STCs which should drop the price by around $1,500, what happened to them? Some funny business going on here.

    • And link's not working …

I just visited a home show and someone quoted a 48kWh (maybe 2x 24) with 13.2kw solar for $22k (before rebate I think)
      .
