  • Hmm loooks tempting if i want to get completely into the Tapo ecosystem. Got a couple cameras and tossing up a floodlight.

    • For what it's worth, I went full into Tapo when choosing a doorbell.

Long story short, I now have a doorbell, multiple indoor and outdoor cameras, multiple smart switches and a floodlight and I can say the floodlight is pretty damn good. Prob my fav of all my tapo devices. The light gets hella bright, it detects well and appropriately, the install (while I needed an electrician) was easy and straightforward and it loads fast on the app. Really pleased with it. Of course YMMV but from my experience, it's been good! Hope this helps.

      • does it all still work if you have an internet outage? everything I'd read about the tapo stuff was it needing internet (except perhaps the new Matter compatible stuff)

  • +1

If I go all in with Matter will this be a good option? I've got two tp link solar cameras atm

    • +1

It's still much more secure than having cameras outdoors that record to their SD cards - these can be simply taken away with no record at all of the footage.

If I was a thief and I saw this, I probably wouldn't know what the heck it was.

      • +1

If I was a thief, this would be the least o my worries - I would be wearing a balaclava and would be covered head to toe lols.

          Don't forget your machete

            @King Steuart: reddot12 doesn't live in our Democratic People's Republic…

    • If someone breaks in, I think you have more things to worry about then them targeting this device.

  • Has any used this as an onvif NVR? I.e not specifically with only tapo cameras

Seems like good value if it can record 24x7 for 16 cameras

  • Can this double up as a NAS? Would provide functionality of NAS + Plex?

  • +20

If you add 1 of each from the shop more and save promo, you double dip the stacking for a 25% off. Eg. 1 bulb, 1 rgb bulb and this hub = $170.25 total. Bulbs will be $8 and $13.50. The hub will be $147.75. Multiples of 1 item doesnt work for some reason

    • Good spotting!

    • This is awesome, thanks so much for pointing that out! Made this purchase a no-brainer for me.

    • Just tried to order using this method, the order seemed to go through - then Amazon temporarily locked my account. Once I reset it and logged in, the order was gone…

      • No issues here

        • Just placed another order, seemed to go through OK this time.

    • great spot - some of the popular cameras are also at lower prices so grabbed the hub , a camera and 5 port switch all for $195.

I had had the cheaper 4 camera hub on watch for a while, but this is so much better.

      Thanks

    • Great find! Worked for me.

    • $165, thank you.

  • Very tempting, but Black Friday is not far away. Wonder if it would be cheaper than this deal. 🤔

  • If you have QNAP Nas it will give you for free up to 2 camera recording.

    • same for Synology

    • Do you have a link?

Kmart need to buy these to install at each store for facial recognition… /s

  • Doesnt work with some older devices

Ordered today and recieved today. I had no issues setting it up or connecting my c211 cameras. It's now saving footage to the harddrive which can be expanded via usb or ssd. Im going to run out of space pretty quickly though. 1:30 min of clips is about 500mb. I don't think the c211 cameras use any video compression? Overall pretty happy with it.
