  • Do we need subscription to store recordings

    • What is benefits of hardwiring the doorbell btw?

      • +1

Would be nice to not have to recharge the battery every 9 months (also I'm pretty sure that would be with relatively conservative settings so if you were to make all the triggers very sensitive then it would drain battery faster).

        • Thanks, yeah i understand i get lazy charging things aswell

But if it was hardwired would it be prone to someone cutting the wires btw?

          • @ATTS: Based on the install images it seems that the device isn't actually secured to the wall, just attached into a wall mount. The wire goes out the back of the unit directly into the wall.

If it was battery then someone could just take the doorbell I guess. If it was hardwired then at least there's something restraining the doorbell, plus you have to take the risk of cutting a live wire.

No subscription required. Supports up to 512 GB microSD for local storage, with 24/7 continuous recording if hard-wired (battery mode is event-only). Includes motion, person, pet, and package detection plus ring-to-call alerts and notifications.

      • Is ring to call the camera rings your phone like the older alarm systems?

I use eufy and get push notification if my data is on

        • +1

Yeah pretty much, someone presses the doorbell, it doesn’t just send a push notification, it actually makes your phone ring like an incoming call, you can answer it to talk to the visitor through the app.

@huggle: Thanks thats a very useful feature!

With the eufy gotta open the app and select the 2 way option and talk there

Makes it very convenient with the tp link

          • @huggle: The only sucky thing is I have to unlock my phone after pressing the pick up button when it rings

I have this. Things to note:
    - the fisheye is pretty extreme, which may be good or bad depending on your situation
    - like a lot of these devices that rely on alerts from the cloud, it may take several seconds to register the presence of someone entering the detection area and then receive the alert. There is little to no lag on a doorbell button press, though.
    - the integration with Google Home is a bit janky

  • Can someone explain why this and not this https://www.amazon.com.au/TP-Link-Tapo-Detection-Anti-theft-…

    • +1

That is the cheaper version. Lower resolution camera and not hardwired.

      • I wqs about to say because not hardwiree also but when i scrolled in the link to the right it said has option wired for $187.00

        • Ahh yeah.. it flips to this D235 version when you select the battery/wired option. That one is the D210.

          • @demod: Oh thanks, sorry my bad
