@NotEnoughEggs: I didn't say "axe5400" did I? I said "Plenty of USB wifis that go on deals for ~$20" and that "Not that good anyway." for this particular USB WIFI in practical terms.

  • Main problem with these is the bandwidth limitations of usb, it’s faster plugging in via Ethernet into a range extender in most scenarios

    • I could be interested in this if I had the faintest idea of what it does.

      • Asus router, bridge mode (which is acts as a device of its own and provides ethernet connection). AX routers can get quite close to $50 mark on sale.

plenty are given away for free FB market place.

        • Ah, Tks.

    • i thought bandwidth problems was a non concern if you plug it into a usb3 port,

using usb wifi myself i occasionally run into stability issues, HODL or look for alternatives hmmm

    • really? according to msi specs 5ghz and 6ghz spectrum only operate at 2.4Gbps which is under usb3gen1 specs, well either way wifi is a major bottleneck already in extremely noisy areas

Run this in PowerShell to see your WiFi signal strength. If it's 80% you are fine.

    netsh wlan show interfaces

  • Shipping to Sydney is $18. Well. I will pass
