  • any good modem recommended paired with this plan?

    • I would suggest a Netgear Nighthawk M6. Has Ethernet, 5G, USB C Charging and is portable.

      • That thing costs A LOT!

        • It does, I bought one second-hand on eBay for about $350 ish.

If you don't want/need ethernet, you can get them cheaper. There is another model that has ethernet but I didn't find the specs as good.

          • @geekcohen: I may just use a spare 5g phone as the modem and hotspot.

            • +1

@Spacexyz: If you only need Hotspot functionality, then yes there are cheaper options like this one. But depends if you want ethernet or not. I specifically wanted one with ethernet for some of my requirements.

              • @geekcohen: Asus router with USB 3.0 and then a cheap 5G phone (or an old phone with 5G).

Use the mobile for tethering when in the move and plug it into the Asus router for however way you want the AiMesh to set up.

    • Where says ring video bell?

    • I'm using a Sagemcom 5866 at home, don't have NBN at home and depend on this unit. it's not a portable unit as it needs to be plugged in like a standard modem/router.

Been pretty reliable and paid $50 for it off marketplace.

been achieving great speed especially on peak where everyone gets home and jumps on their NBN and the 5G network frees up.

Can we return the ring doorbell?

The ETC in T&C's shows up to $700, plus the $69 upfront charge when you first sign up. So if you signed up and then disconnected, you’d be looking at around $769.

That’s a lot of hassle and probably a credit check on your file, just for about $81 profit in gift cards and a video doorbell. If you actually need the data, the doorbell and $850, then it’s not bad. But compared to older JB deals, the value isn’t what it used to be :(

    • I would bother. Lol.

JB mobile sales will tank after both JB and Telstra invested a small amount to the platform.

    • It would be $739.83 due to the first monthly bill paying for the first voucher installment, but yes $110 + Ring re-sell is not worth this, if anything wait for better phone/phone plan related deals.

    • It's how its going to be going forward. Previous JB deals although its really good for us, but doesn't really make sense for them. Previous deal incentivize people to break the 24month contract rather than stay in it.

      • Just stick to whatever best prepaid option out there, I would say.

Frankly, JB is merely doing creative accounting by inflating profit and allocating more cost to marketing (GC), end result, inflating gross revenue then blame economic condition for "cost" related drag.

I have never seen such heavy handed way of doing it until JB entered the game.

for a moment i was excited to see jb mobile plans back down to 69 (recently gone up to 79) and with a decent gift card, but then realised it's mobile broadband only. shame.

    • Came here to say the same, but I'm a month away from a port out anyway.
Rip the 12 month contract and GC deals.

      • +1

they just get worse and worse. it's gone up from 59/12m to 69/24m and now 79/24m.

  • All these nonsense for 200GB per month

  • +1

Tbh this isn't bad if you look at the whole picture; works out to be $33.58 per month if you consider the gift card amount against the whole plan balance. Plus you'll still be able to claim the whole amount on tax.

  • Anyone knows how to use the data pool via registering a spare SIM for using the data on another device?

  • would be great if it's actually a sim only mobile plan not a data only plan.

  • Where says ring video bell?

  • cannot find anywhere saying free ring video doorbell…

  • Better than the other deal if you want to cancel and get the voucher?

My last experience from JB mobile: you won't be charged for the first month as long as not activate the service by not putting the sim card in.

    • +1

they charge you on spot when signing the contract.

  • Is it possible that a few months later, the price can increase to $90 or more?
