Not a good fit for a lot people v AP2. I would buy from Apple first so can return if don’t suit you.

    • I've only tried the standard size tips but they don't feel great so far

I went from AP1 to AP3 did have to change tips to the S from M, after that fit has been fine and solid audio/ANC improvement. When switching tips I noticed the sizes are:
      XXS - XS - S - M - L so the small is the middle size.

      • Thanks, I'll try that tonight and try not to tear em

      • I similarly went from 1 to 3 and found going to the s size tips were just right. Previously with app1 I had to resort to foam tips for just right fit

Upgraded from AP1 and I definitely found the AP1 more comfortable, the AP3 are not uncomfortable like the AirPods 4 that it starts hurting from the moment you put them on and unbearable after 30min of usage. I did have to go a size down on the AP3 and it felt much better, but still not quite there

    • Is it a no questions asked return? Been happy so far with my AirPods 4 (ANC) but i've always wanted to try pros, but my ears just oozes with earwax when using earphones with silicone tips but maybe with their new tips it won't be as bad

Just watched LTT's ShortCircuit video, TLDR - They've changed the EQ to be arguably worse than APP2. Foam tips, although make a better seal, are fragile. Noise cancellation is almost too good, needs to probably have a low and high setting like a lot of over ear headphones have.

I was going to upgrade from my APP2 but now thinking I won't anymore, main reason being the EQ issues.

Sound is subjective. Some will like the tuning changes, some won't. Best way to know is to try them yourself

Foam tips, although make a better seal, are fragile.

This is true, but foam tips can still last a long time if kept in good condition. Have been using foam tips for my Galaxy Buds over the past 3 years and only now do I feel the need to swap them out (they're a little too compressed, a bit grimey, etc.)

On a side note it is interesting to see DMS on LTT… would be cool if all mainstream tech YouTubers took sound quality seriously, it's annoying when someone like MKBHD dedicates a whole 20 seconds to sound quality in a 'review'

      • Yeah agreed that it is subjective. I for one am not a fan of heavy bass and prefer a neutral EQ, I understand there is a large segment of people who do prefer bass heavy. This could be solved by giving the user EQ control, but that's not very Apple, since they know best as always.

Yes, I use memory foam tips on some of my IEMs and they have never torn. However, the APP3 foam appears to be quite thin with the silicone/rubber? coating. For LTT's buds, they were already broken when Linus had started the unboxing, which was after their Labs team had completed testing. YMMV still though.

    • That video is almost like he’s trying to pick a fight and/or go OTT for the views.

Saying the ANC is ‘too quiet’ like it’s a bad thing is nuts. People always complain when their ANC still lets in sound and here’s a set that (supposedly) cuts all of it out and he complains.
Same for the mic selection on the video camera mode - not sure what else they were expecting, it’s literally a setting like changing the video format or the tone, 2 clicks on a contextual menu.

As for the sound, well he basically admitted it on the video in that he looked at the measurements then listened to the sound so already there is a bias, subconsciously or consciously. Sound is subjective anyway.

All that said… I don’t have a pair of APP3, I prefer over ears. But his ‘review’ is… weird.

Theyre clear. Anc is killer. Fit is more secure. I found them less of an echo from my own voice, but you'd better enjoy bass. And I mean a lot….

All the mids were as mild as a $2 pair of wired headphones but the bass amped to heck.

Tested playing a known FLAC album, with Foobar2000 so it wasnt the source.
