With this help or hinder my hypochondria?

  • +8

Forget the $149, it is a joke only..

    • It's currently $90 on their own website.

    • +3

Could be a valid overprice during COVID.

Can't speak for this particular one, but the majority of such devises have incorrect 0 calibration, i.e. instead of 36 it will show 34, but increase on 5 degrees will be measured correctly. So you need to remember how many degrees is the difference and calculate correct default values yourself.

I use this to check my milk temp when making coffee.

    • +1

I use it to bbq my medium rare steaks.

      • +1

how do you tell if your steak is medium rare? is there a certain temp range your lookng for or do you cut into it and check inside

        • You need a probe thermometer if you can't do it by timing.

Surface temperature won't tell you the inside as that's dependent on thickness of the steak.

Medium rare is around 63 degrees C
Medium is around 71 degrees C

  • What's the temperature range? Can I use it to measure aquarium water temp (~22 degrees)?

    • +3

Easily check the temperature of objects and surfaces from 0'C up to a maximum of 100'C

  • +13

$12 seem standard price when you google it.

    • +1

      Damn, got sucked in

      • $9.60 is a good price though. I paid around same from AliExpress for a similar thermometer and it did ok for a few years before it died on me.

  • I always do wonder how to they make money on this yet alone standard shipping is already >$10

    • +2

They pay bulk bill to auspost instead of retail price

      • +1

I do need a thermometer for whenever if someone feels sick, so for $9.60 delivered I’m not complaining

  • +1

    blackpink in your area

    • +1

      back pain in my area!

    • +3

Never confuse the black and the pink areas… I did that once, now I piss sideways. :(

  • +3

Do your homework people. If you do a web search for SLS-IRCT30 you'll notice the going price is between 12 and 19 dollars

    • +5

so this is on the lower end then. Good deal.

    • and you can get for $9.60 with CART20
      good deal

  • +7

Contactless are useless. I have tried many of them, but gave up at the end. If you want reliable reading, get the in-ear one or the old-school one.

    • +13

Up the behind for the highest accuracy.

      • -2

Rather efficacious in scaring someone into being better.

  • +2

    Aren't contactless ones super inaccurate…

  • +4

lol its $12 everywhere already, bargain here is the welcome code or CART20

    • It’s because it’s sold by the same marketplace seller: Goodbuyz

  • +1

    Same price on BigW MP

    • Yep it's their store. OP mentioned that in the description.

      Sold & shipped by Goodbuyz

    • But it's not free delivery.

      • Should be free delivery on that Big W listing, tried a few postcodes.

        • +1

Oh I don't know why but it wanted to charge me $7 delivery. I've just checked again, they must've updated the listing as it now says free delivery

  • +1

Can this be used to check for fever?

    • Yes but I think you need to add a bit to adjust for the armpit vs forehead surface vs true core

      • Thanks

  • How to cancel the order

    • Please tell me as well once you find out

    • Email them

  • +3

Something tells me there's going to be a lot of cancelled orders lol

    • Almost same price at ebay. I beleive RRP was the main error.

  • +12

Negging for the BS RRP and the fact $12 isn’t a deal at all

    • -2

got this one for $9.60 which is still cheaper than Kogan + shipping.

      • -2

Nice, not really sure why I'm being down voted as I was just providing an alternative site

        • It's because posting the same item at a more expensive price is not a reason to neg this deal.

          • +2

@onetwothreefour: The RRP was never $149, which is what I was getting at. And also just providing an alternative retailer to the listed one.

    • Sold by Goodbuyz

    • But no first membership requirement for $129

    • Maybe it was a bad deal before they added shipping on, now it's a good deal as many people have free shipping with Kogan first (or can get the free trial). Bought mine for $2 delivered from Kogan and used up the $10 credit I had.

  • +8

The RRP of $149 is a ploy. It's buy-bait. Elsewhere on Ebay this design can be had for around the $10-$15 mark.

  • Thanks OP and others with codes!! Just bought 4 for my hospital!!

    • Which hospital?
      How are you checking now?

    • +7

What hospital so i never send my family there

  • Normal price on ebay though?

    • +2

It's the same seller who is selling at multiple places. There is no need to neg the post. It's an bargain for an TGA approved device.

  • +4

No deal! Fake RRP to decieve
    Similar trash for $9.5 delivered

    • How accurate is it?

        • Odd, my internet isn’t allowing it

It’s saying Safari can’t open the page

Edit: restarted my iPhone and it’s showing

Some cheaply "made in China" Contactless Thermometers, which were used by Chinese authorities to pretend to scan people's temperatures.
There must have been an oversupply after the pandemic finished. Check out the manufacture date when you receive yours.

    • +4

Wrong, Skynews told me the Chinese authorities were jabbing probes up people's backsides.

    • Given that everything's made in China you better leave your house and live in a cave as that's about the only thing that's 100% Australian.

  • +2

Not sure if this one is any better.

We have a Braun one, it's useless in cold mornings unless the heater was one, because it only works in warm ambient temperature.

  • Similar price and cheaper on Temu with their 50% extra cashback. Not sure of the quality and accuracy differences.

Not bad to have one at home if you don't have one. But now I am after a medical grade one for an upgrade. This claims to be used at government schools. Is it a good one?

  • Goodbuyz appears to be a shopping website operated by Directed Electronics, which is selling the same item for $89 via the Somatik Labs website, which it also operates.

Could be trying to offload stock from a cancelled large order.

  • Are they clearing out the stock pile from covid?

  • Anyone having issues buying from their eBay store?

They don’t seem to deliver to Adelaide.

  • Purchased one… hopefully it is not that shit :))

  • Ooh dang, I jumped too quickly and only got the welcome15(%) off. Ah well :-D

  • Don't get too excited, these contact less infrared thermometers are wildly inaccurate. They're $10-15 normally.

Get an in ear thermometer if you actually want accurate results.

    • +1

what if I want to find out the temperature of something without an ear?

      • Rectal thermometer

  • +1

    Landfill?

  • +1

Looks like they've changed something. They want $9.95 for shipping now. Kills it imo.
