25% Cashback on Beauty Products (Including Dior & Aesop) & Hair Tools (Capped at $50 Per Order) from David Jones @ TopCashback

RECOMMEND HOLDING OFF ON ANY PURCHASES UNTIL CLARIFICATION re: GCWP (Gift card with purchase) Mod: Refer to pinned comments by Rep

Received in my email, and the banner said "Shop luxury beauty: Dior, Aesop & more"

Not often these deals include Dior and Aesop. Good for some, including myself who like Aesop.

**Also this offer popped up on some products (incl Aesop) :
Receive a David Jones $30 Gift Card, when you spend $150+, $70 Gift Card for $300+ spend, $150 Gift Card for $600+ spend
The e-gift card is added to the basket automatically like Apple : it took $30 off one item, then added the gift card as $30.
*eGC valid for 1 month from purchase
This might affect the cashback, but net-win for me

Ends 2300hrs AEST

    @dangerdanger @noelhoi @SR9 @Manny Calavera and others.

Great news! David Jones has made an exception for this promo and will allow you to receive the gift card (gift-with-purchase) and still be eligible for cashback.

If you purchased prior to 12:45PM AEST today, your order would have tracked at $0 cashback if you received a gift card from the gift-with-purchase promo. There is no need for you to do anything. These transactions will be updated by David Jones over the coming week or so.

For those that purchased after 12:45PM AEST today, your order will track at the correct amount even if you received a gift card from the gift-with-purchase promo. So all I can say, is go for it!

Please note that after today's promo, there will be a new terms added to the David Jones page on TopCashback specifying that receiving any gift card through gift-with-purchase will make cashback ineligible.

Have a lovely day ahead :)

    • ABSOLUTE BANGER and a LEGEND. Thanks as always TA, have a blessed day!

Oh and, can anyone confirm if DJ is tracked incl or excl GST in TCB?

    • thanks for getting this sorted so quickly.

  • Is your cashback track at correct rate? Mine tracked as $0 and status is pending. Not sure if this is correct

    • Mine tracked at $0, I'll put in a missing cashback claim

      • @Tight Arse got in touch after my comment here. So probably some issues at DJ side.

It looks like DJs is paying $0 commission due to receiving a gift card (gift-with-purchase) from this promotion. I've already reached out to them for clarification and will report here as soon as I know more. Thanks.

        • Thanks TA!

Oh man, that's not cool if they reject it.
You can't even separate the purchases.

I guess an analogy is the Apple return to school offer. Cashback should track on the Apple purchase, but not the gift card (which is the way it should be).

Also, my (adult) parter made a purchase on her own device, with her own TCB account logged in, and on a different network (ie. mobile vs. wifi) - but TCB somehow linked both purchases to the one TCB account! How could this even happen?

        • Following, thanks for the quick response TA! Need to make an order that involves this GWP GC.

@noelhoi: Guys, I strongly suggest holding off making any purchases until I hear back. Trying to avoid disappointment.

@tightarse: Remove deal from TCB until this is sorted?

              • @dangerdanger: I was looking fwd to the 25% AESOP too :(
Guess the GC offer isn't bad but not as good, only effectively 16.67% up to 20% discount if you maximise it to the dot ($150, $300, or $600 spend)

                • +1

@noelhoi: 25% if you go for the $600 spend. But agree, this will be rough for me and others who clicked through expecting TCB 25% CB

                  • @dangerdanger: Cancel order for now? reorder later once clarified by TA

And the way I look at it is Spend $600, get $150 free when you spend another $150. (cos you still gotta spend that $150 and it's not cash, as opposed to direct 25% off RRP discount)
                    Meaning $150 (GC) / $750 spend (600+150) = 20% effective discount

But, you'll still get those free GCWP regardless anyway so minimum 16.67% discount is not so bad, down from TCB's 25%.

I guess you can still get the TCB 25% if you spend <$150, so as to not trigger the free GCWP added to bag at checkout?

@noelhoi: Impossible to cancel online order
                      - no phone contact
                      - DJ site says not possible to cancel, but I can return the items if I want
                      - sms chat = goes nowhere, says 48hrs to receive reply (!)
                      - online chat goes nowhere

                      • @dangerdanger: Can't cancel once ordered. It says in the email confirmation. Can always return after receiving it though. If the cashback doesn't come through then will need to return.

            • @tightarse: How'd you get on?

  • Know if fragrance is considered beauty?
Looks like it is as its under the beauty tab

    • Same question.

    • It should be as it's under the beauty tab,
I had the same concern for AESOP body wash and checked its under Beauty so it should be eligible.

    • Yes, but not on sale on their site.

  • @SR9 @dangerdanger I assume you purchased >$150?
Can you tell me what form does the GC come in, is it e-GC via email? or physical GC upon delivery/collection (if C&C).
    TIA

    • I think it's an eGC (haven't received it yet)
      Yes I purchased >$150

      • +1

        Answer by Live Chat rep:

Upon placing your order, it will be added into the item lists and therefore, it will be a physical Gift Card.
I've checked with our team, and it will be delivered along with your order
Same thing with click and collect, it will be in the package upon collection

        • Great thanks for letting me know!

  • +1

My purchase is tracked $150 with $30.69, not 25%.

    • Similar outcome for me…spent $220 (without GST would be $198) and was therefore expecting $49.50 cashback. TCB record states $43.18 which is <22%.

Has anyone received the full 25%?

      • +1

Not 100% sure why this is happening, but my gut feel is that DJs is possibly excluding the value of the gift card you're receiving from all cashback calculations (much like Apple does with its gift-with-purchase promos), in which case you can't really blame them. Have just emailed DJs to be sure and will let you know more once I hear back. If it's not related to this, be sure we'll fix the issue. Cheers.

  • I thought Aesop had an exclusive partnership with Myer?

  • DJ's website appears to be down.
