  • Any iPhone 17 or just the Air?

    • Just the Air but any storage

    • They're labelling it just iPhone Air instead of iPhone 17 Air btw

  • +5

    $2,136 minimum cost…

    • +1

It's still the maximum voucher repayment

  • +1

    What is the ETC?

A critical piece of information for JB mobile deals.

    • +2

      I checked the link:
The Base Voucher Repayment Fee and the Bonus Voucher Repayment Fee (as applicable) is a
pro-rata amount, equal to the total amount of the Base Voucher and Bonus Voucher divided
by 24 and multiplied by the months (or part months) remaining in your Voucher Term. For
example, if received a voucher with a 24-month Voucher Term, then in:
      (a) Month 1: You will need to repay 23/24 of the Voucher you received;
      (b) Month 12: You will need to repay 11/24 of the Voucher you received; and
      (c) Month 23: You will need to repay 1/24 of the Voucher you received.

        So no "deal" effectively

      • +2

        It’s only upto $1000

        • But JB stuff is usually 10-20% overpriced to start with.

        • Interesting. I can't see that in the terms and conditions. If true then it's a slight deal

          • +1

@killingtime: Previously it was just the $800 pro rata amount. But Telstra has upped this to up to $1000 bc of ppl cancelling too much

            • +1
            • +1

@BargainsGrabber: I thought the same about $1000 but Interestingly, I've signed up to the $89 s25 deals last week, and the jb app is showing $800 ($766.59) voucher repayment. Making it quite the deal if true. An operator might say otherwise but I've yet to cancel.

              • @deneb: Could you please keep me updated on whether once you cancel, the ETC remains at $766.59?

                It’d make the iPhone 17 a $400 off if it’s still a workaround

        • Where's it state $1000 and not $1200?

  • +1

Expect further reductions and discounts on iPhone Air, it will follow the lead of discounts on Samsung S25 Edge, once the iPhone Air gets at $1000 or below net without any deals then it slightly might be a good deal, slightly as it has bad battery life to begin with and just a single camera.

    • -1

S25 Edge had a huuuuge discount lol. Air though… is actually the sleeper hit Scamsung wished the Edge was.

      • +1

Technically, S25 Edge is a better “Thin Phone” than the iPhone Air in every aspect, the fact boils down to is believe it or not people do not want thin phones at the compromise of key features such as battery and camera and still pay a premium for it being a thin phone.

        • +4

S25 Edge does indeed have better specs overall than the iPhone Air and even weights 2g less than the Air. I guess the iPhone Air is 0.2mm thinner so there's that. Nonetheless, the iPhone Air across multiple tech reviewers and actual early purchases is way more of a hit than the Edge. The Air was sold out in London at launch for example. It's just facts.

          • +1

@marshmall0w2: The Edge just doesn't have a nice look to it though. It's like it was designed by engineers for nerds only. It's ugly and aesthetics and materials should be a big part of any phone at it's asking price. The edge just lacks in those areas unfortunately. I'm betting the next iteration will be a bit prettier.

There are a lot of people out there that will care more that the phone looks better in their jeans pocket than caring about battery life.

Camera is fine too, it's the same main camera. IMO wide angle cameras are fairly pointless (I'd always rather zoom). I'm sure it'll be back on the Air 2 though.

IMO I like the idea of a thin, light phone with a bigger screen. Beyond that it's still an iPhone, people are buying it for the OS. If they want more battery and camera instead, just buy a regular iPhone (it's cheaper too). I'm on a 13 pro with 86% battery life that still gets me through a day, the Air has all the features I want, bigger screen, lighter body, better hardware and better camera. I'm tempted by it. The S25 edge definitely wins on a few specs, but I still don't want to jump to Android

        • people do not want thin phones at the compromise of key features such as battery and camera and still pay a premium for it being a thin phone.

Yes, they do. You're out of touch.

Dream on. It is a iPhone

        • xr sold pretty well which was arguably an ordinary iphone (not to mention the 5c)

this phone has a lot going for it that sets it apart and assumptions about battery life are pretty weak sauce

i'm not in th market for a phone but you're making a lot of emotional proclamations that just sound kind of shrill tbh

          • -2

@0jay: XR and 5C were the budget offerings from Apple. iPhone Air is a Pseudo Premium offering from Apple.

iPhone 17 is $1400, Air is $1800 and iPhone 17 Pro is $2000.

Apple expects their consumers to pay $400 more than the base variant to “feel thin”, a feeling which becomes normal after 1 week of using the phone.

It is a bad device even if you are a normal user, chances are even in a 3 Year term iPhone 17 will outlast iPhone Air in every metric.

If the base iPhone still was like iPhone 16 with no pro-motion display and other quirks which they reserve for pro models, the iPhone Air might’ve made sense but Apple have self cannibalised the sales of iPhone Air by bumping up the iPhone 17.

              @princeofpoverty:

              It is a bad device

              'f you say so ociffer

i dint neg y btw, but spec warriors like yself prolly should be negged on sight tbqh

      lol your dreaming

      • -3

Wait 6-8 Months and watch it turn into reality

        • You can buy cheap anytime if find the right seller, got my 16 pro 512gb new for $900 in January lol

        • I will be back here in 8 months to remind you how wrong you are.

    • +1

You are dreaming if you are hoping to get iphone air to be at $1000. You probably only see iphone air based on its specs, which is not what iphone air is targetted for.

      • Exactly. OzBargain is very functional over form which isn't representative of real life consumer behavior.

    • bad battery life to begin with and just a single camera.

That's literally the point of it? Get one of the other three models if those two things matter more to you.

  • $143 discount eww

  • +3

No deal, the early termination fee is pro rata now.

  • +1

Surely we can't classify these as deals.

  • Can I port my number out from Boost, then port it back in before this deal expires to get the deal.

Thinking I could get an iPhone 16 for $249 upfront and an $89/month payment compared Telstra's $130 per month.

Not sure what the sums add up to.

    • +1

The 17 is better in every way , spend the extra 👍

      • +1

But the 17 is cheaper than the Air bruh

      • For such a small difference in price, it makes sense. The only way I will do this is if I can port to amysim and port back and get the voucher.

    • Yep, ports can happen within 15 minutes. Just gotta hope it happens without an issue.

      • +1

Spoke to a salesperson on the phone today and explained my situation and they said it should be fine.

Ported to Felix and will transfer to JB on Monday. They said they can make it happen and gave me every reassurance it wont be a problem.

  • Does anyone know if jb hifi stores have iphone 17 pro max 1tb or 2tb in stock now?

    • +4

You can check availability on the jbhifi website

  • Hope it comes with megsafe battery pack

who is meg and is she safe?

2025 and people still talking ETC…..

Get on a cheap 365 days plan, buy apple gift card at 10% to purchase the phone and do it before you travel to get TRS. How hard is that?

    • Not this deal but in previous ones, it’s much cheaper to take the ETC. You can still get the TRS on full price as it’s shown on the invoice.
