Just give up already, Google you are still way overpriced….

Sad but true, and yes I am an Android user.

    • +7

i doubt an apple user would claim something else is overpriced 😋 The sales on last years models can be great, especially when Telstra/HN clear them out.

    • Their earlier generations of Nexus phones used to be much better priced. Now it almost looks like they don't care about sales volume.

I've read mixed things with the Pixel re performance and battery, also look at the battery issues on their past devices.

    https://www.androidauthority.com/google-pixel-battery-issues…

For the same money you would be better off going with Samsung or another Android option.

    • +6

I've got a nearly 2.5 yo 7 pro, battery still lasts a day. I really really hate the Samsung interface & bloatware. They have a habit of re-enabling apps after software updates. Then there's the difficult people in support if you need it.

      • -1

I have an S23 and haven't had that experience, the bloatware was bad 15 years ago but it's not like that now days and apps can be disabled, they don't come back. Sounds like you haven't owned one in a while?

Pixels are not bad phones just not worth the price they are selling them for, especially compared to the s25 and ultra for the same price.

      • Same the bloatware killed me over 10 years ago. I think my last Samsung was an s4.

    • +3

Pixel 7 here still going strong

    • +4

There's no better Android experience than with a Pixel.

Yeah - a model in the past had a 'potential' battery issue. Google paid everyone the value of the phone and told them not to use it just in case - I got more than what I paid for my 6a.

Samsung had exploding batteries not that long ago unless you forgot. People got burned literally.

      • -1

Link? Or are you talking about the note 7 from 9 years ago? 🥱 Pixel battery issues are much more recent and not resolved unlike Samsung.

    • +1

battery issues on their past devices.

yes, and Google will pay you back for that, potentially more than what you bought the phone for.

Pixel 9 Pro is on sale from A$1,24911

    Bad deal

    • I would say it's an anti-deal.

    • Perfect for a price match refund and maximum tax deductibility

    • Pixel 9a is on sale from A$6499.

Pixel 9 is on sale from A$94910.

Pixel 9 Pro is on sale from A$1,24911.

But quite reasonable compared to the restof the Piel 9 range.

  • Pixel 10 Pro Fold
    (Shipping begins on 9 October)

    From A$1,699

Sadly this seems to be a typo, or it'd be the real deal here. It's from $2,699 still

    • +1

      Even @ $1699 it's still $500 too expensive

    • The $1,699 price is after trading in your Fold 9 Pro.

  • +2

You may get up to A$500- A$1,000 back on a Pixel 10 Pro Fold by trading in a Pixel 9 series in good condition.

Last year I traded in my Pixel 6 Pro for the Fold 9 Pro, and the trade-in value was $900.

  • +1

They really (profanity) up trade-in for old devices since the P9 lunch. I paid $450 for an 8 pro before the 9 release, I think they gave me like $750 for my P7 128… Now they give me $238 for the 8 pro… Google is (profanity) up their sales big time

  • Just received an email for a $50 off discount code as well.

  • +2

    prices remain butthole

$50 code if anyone wants it - O5VX30SVLXG5D9N87BBWNH9

  • +1

Last year I got a Pixel 9 pro 256GB for under $800 out of pocket via JB $1700 instant gift voucher minus Telstra plan cancellation fee.

That will be my benchmark for future flagship phones.

  • +2

$50 off code since I already purchased Pixel 10 Pro (Officeworks deal)
    8QXY4SQAK0F7ZL201OV8RKC

    • I'm not using mine either.
      GNF4SQ2K7CIEDF8ZSRLHLIZ

  • Officeworks Price beat over phone is so tedious. They have to be able to search for the exact bar code/manufacturer model no. This is despite the price beat being against the manufacturer's own website.

Managed to price beat a Pixel 9a in store, though.

  • +2

Terrible price for the Pixel range. It should be mid tier pricing since SOC is not flagship level.

Google should be paying the buyer for the right to mine your data and training their AI model using data from all the users.

    • Google should be paying the buyer for the right to mine your data and training their AI model using data from all the users.

Advocate and raise awareness about data rights at the very least, and potential profit in an ideal world. Yang broke it down pretty well here: https://2020.yang2020.com/policies/data-property-right/

      • Great article. Companies like Google and Facebook "steals" our data and not many people are aware or any of the media/government are doing anything about it.

Here we are scare mongering about China and the CCP.

  • Does anyone have any experience with the Fitbit Charge 6?
Versions 4 and 5 were complete trash (I got the 5 as a free replacement after several self-bricked 4's), none of the other major brands have quite ticked enough the boxes for me either.

  • Any chance JB will match or beat this deal? Probably more useful as credit.
