If you have decent enough life insurance, always take the 901 via Broadmeadows to save $20 roundtrip

    • I did this for a recent trip to Adelaide, and (acknowledging that your post is likely somewhat tongue in cheek) the issue was less safety and more the horrible PT issues. There were a two groups of teenagers squaring off against each other at the train station, but they didn't really care about anyone else there. The buses from the train to airport were running very infrequently (over 1/2 hour delay and some cancelled), which was much more stressful.

It was the first time that I had to run through the airport to get onto flight. I should have been there about an hour before I needed to be.

2025 and here we are still using bus to/from airport. Nice.

    • Feels like going back in time when you get out at the Airport in Melbourne and either need a car or to jump onto a bus

      • +4

Nah going back in time is the old Melbourne airport you parked your car (free) just outside where the arrival car pool entrance is. Because Victoria was the "garden state" there were roses and some hedges. You walk up to the gate and waved your loved ones goodbye before they boarded the plane.

        Good times.

You obviously haven't travelled to many American airports have you??

        • If this is what you call the most liveable state, count me in. ALL in. Let me just pack up my Two strollers, 4 luggages, and Two toddlers to hop on the BUS.

        • Probably a lot more in a single year than you have over your entire life.

Comparing to Sydney, where you can go to basement level after getting your bags and jump straight into a train, yes it's going back in time. Why are we talking about the US?

          • -1

@jay889344: From memory I've been to about 10 airports in the US. How many have you been to within the space of a year?

And since when is lack of a rail connection "going back in time" ? Rail has been around for 200 years, it pre-dates cars and buses.

  • Showing AUD22.13/AUD37.07 for me

could you check the price after login? wondering if the discount is only for members.

      • Can confirm, when signed out it was showing me the price that bdl said, once logged in showed the prices in your deal.

Even got an extra 3% off code bringing it down to $30.61 return 👍🏻

      • +1

Even after login I still have the AUD22.13/AUD37.07 pricing.

It says my account is "VIP Silver" (whatever that means)… so guessing OP's pricing is targeted?

(I've bought discounted Skybus tickets from agoda in the past, FWIW)

Melbourne's crimewave is mostly SkyBus generating arterial evil.

  • Created an account and only showing $37.02

  • Do you have to use the whole return on the single day booked, or do you need to book two separate one-way tickets?

Edit: Found it, you can use the return any time before expiry.
"As long as guest travel before the expiry date shown on your ticket your trips can be used on two different date."

They can also be used in any direction, so you could to two trips from southern cross to the airport or vice versa. It's essentially the same as two single tickets.

GETACTIVE coupon gives 5% off, but I can't get the headline price…

Pelago with 23% cashback through ShopBack today likely to be cheaper overall if you can't see the OP's price.

    • How do you use a coupon code?

      • +1

I scrolled down to the 'Flights & Activities Promotions' area on the home page, clicked on the up to 5% off one, and then I think it auto-applies it from there.

        • Haha nice, brings it down to $29.98 for me

    • Thanks so much for posting this! Bought via Pelago as I'm not targeted. ;.;

      • Yeah same here. Pelago with cashback was a better deal. Thanks OP and Vague!

Why don't these guys do a service from each corner of Melbourne to airport ? Whats stopping them ?

    • They have the Peninsula Express and Eastern Express.

    • They'd have to have sufficient passenger numbers from all of those areas to justify the extra expense.

  • I came to see this too late, I just paid $24.60 per round.

  • thanks OP. though I couldn't get the price, as it's targetted, still a decent saving.

  • It’s $19.98 for a single adult return trip (departing from various suburban stations) via the Skybus website. I just bought two adult tickets and plan to use them during the Christmas holidays, as they are valid for 90 days.

    • Yes, Eastern Express intro price is a good deal

  • Why is there never a deal for the peninsula express :(
