This isn't very competitive. Not a bargain.

    • +3

Can you provide an example of a better priced Sigenergy system please?

  • -4

This pricing is super sharp for the products on offer

  • What’s the wait time on Sigenergy if we go ahead with this deal?

    • Hey Unco,

Our next large batch of Sigen stock is set to arrive late October for installation over Nov/Dec.

Standard lead time is approx. 6 - 8 weeks with the current work load and stock availability. We have had pre orders in since May this year and have had a steady flow over the last few months with significant qty of stock arriving next month.

Happy to discuss your needs feel free to get in touch via website or send me a message here.

      Cheers,

      • How much for the DC charger model?

        • Hey Mate,

2 options with the DC Ev charging module

          12.5kW - $5,500

          25kW - $7,500

Not sure if people are comparing these batteries with those massive 30 or 40kwh deals from unknowns but I recently got a quote for sigenergy 16kwh for well over 10k so I think this is a decent deal

    • +1

I got quoted 40.4kWh for Alpha ESS SMILE-G3-B5 $8200 after Gov rebate but have been waiting since July for stock to arrive.

      • +3

10kw inverter/42kwh battery Fox ESS for 6-7k in Vic dc coupled as well. If anyone wants to PM I can refer you to my installer. fyi my install is still pending but I have referred 2 people who have had their systems installed which they are happy with.

Smile G3 B5 is pointless having a battery that big when you only have a 5kw inverter, it would take 8 hours to charge best case scenario…. and in an all electric house in the future you will often be drawing over 5kw so will have to pull energy from the grid.

If your set on Alpha I would wait until next year for them to release the Smile 10 which is happening Q1 next year.

        • Interested foxess 10kw inverter with 42kw battery in Vic too

        • Who's your installer in VIC?

        • +1

          I can vouch for this.

Had mine installed through Brick50, got it fully installed in less than a week from signing up.

Can't imagine paying thousands extra just for a third of what FoxESS offers and a much smaller inverter.

Also had a call with FoxESS AU support and they picked up instantly and updated all my firmware for me.

In my final stages to getting Amber SmartShift setup and hopefully be covering the costs for this battery much sooner than other brands.

        • Smile G3 B5 is pointless having a battery that big when you only have a 5kw inverter

Thanks for the honest feedback, appreciate it.

I have an existing 10kWh inverter that I have been also told is compatible with this system, doesn't need to be a hybrid inverter and won't be limited to the 5kWh inbuilt inverter. Now that you mention this, looks like I'd be throttled, still have up to 10kWh solar generation but charge/discharge reduced to 5kWh inbuilt inverter by this setup. Inverter is GoodWe MS G3 GW10K-MS-30 (AS4777-2 2020) (10kW)

Initially I had signed up to a Goodwe 10kWh hybrid inverter + 38kWh solar battery system, but they said they have no idea when they would get the solar batteries and told me to change over to the Alpha for the same price. This is after waiting three months almost.

          PM sent

    • I dipped my toe into solarquotes and was getting about $14k for a 13,7kwh battery so dipped on that. This looks much better.

  • $2,399 for a 6.6kW Jinko solar only system seems too cheap? What am I missing here?

    • Nothing because it's not really that cheap, I paid $3900 12 months ago for 10.56kw Trina w/ Goodwe 8.5kw inverter and thats a full solar setup which includes network approval, inverter, wiring etc.

This deal already includes the inverter, network approval, wiring, switches so all they need to do is throw some panels & racking on the roof and plug in the MC4 strings into the inverter. STC's pay for the panels anyway.

I was quoted 2k for 4.4kw more of panels though so really it's not that bad of a deal but to me it's not worth paying that much when you can get them for less

  • Anker make home batteries now as well? Or at least have them badged under their name? I guess it makes sense. I can have a whole house full of Anker gadgets!

    • +1

They have been making power station for a while now, which is basically the mobile version of home battery on smaller scale. The home battery branch out is after they poached some staff from Huawei.

    • My house is anko products :(

  • Anker looking interesting, they make great power banks, not sure about the power station at this stage.

  • how much for a 3-phase 20 or 30 kw signergy inverter?

    • Hey derdew,

Sigenergy 3 phase inverter will be additional: (to the current 5kW single phase in the offer)

      20kW - $3,000
      30kW - $4,000

Please reach out and let us know your requirements and we can quote up the most suitable system.

      Cheers,

      Matt

  • Anker looks good… Tho might need more than 10kw inverter if charging car at night.

    • Can get a 10kw foxess with a 42kwh battery for less, well established brand in UK/other markets

      • Sure. But I can also buy an MG cheaper than I can buy a Toyota…

        • +7

Are we calling Anker batteries toyota…? This is a Haval vs a Chery lets be honest

          • @Brick50: Anker is new to the Australian market in home batteries.

          • @Brick50: Anker might not be Toyota but Sigen might well be, they got the biggest battery market share right now.

Anker maybe LM Motor vs MG for SAIC, they are more premium product with corrosion rating for Coastal exposure compared to very basic system on Fox ESS.

            • @Bigboomboom: Toyota has been around a lot longer than 2 years, even Fox ESS has been around longer than 2 years.

              • @Brick50: And the people behind Sigen has been around for a lot longer than 2 years. Most of the Huawei R&D team for solar went on to make Sigen.

                • @Bigboomboom: Yep, doesn’t mean they won’t fail though. I’m not denying it’s a good product but it’s too soon to tell if it’ll last 10+ years which is a requirement to even break even on the purchase.
                  It’s not a Toyota

      • Who / where is the distributor for FoxESS?

Does the manufacturer have an Australian bricks and mortar head office

When things go bad and the installer disappears, you refer back to the manufacturer or distributer for warranty issues.

        • Edit - found a Vic office.

53 Willow Avenue, Springvale VIC 3171, Australia

I think that is a crucial thing to consider.

        • Yes vic office, removed the warranty condition that it had to be inspected or serviced after 6 years as well. Looks like they are taking the Aus market seriously

  • What about Tesla PW3 x2?

    • +4

Way better batteries out there now for the price, unless you're after a feature that only tesla provides? Surely SIG is a better option if you want to waste your money on a battery that will have a 10+ year ROI

disclaimer: I own a tesla EV too

      • Sig has only been around couple of years?

        • Yep but in what scenario would installing PW3's make sense financially? have you calculated payback period?

I am suggesting Sig as the only reason I can imagine you are interested in tesla is whole of house backup

          • @Brick50: Of paying a bit more offer whole of house backup then I’d go for it.

            • +1

@bhunter101: Should be able to get whole of house backup for most batteries. Seriously I would consider twice as I cant think of a scenario nowadays where 2x PW3 makes sense financially with all these other options out there.

              • @Brick50: Do you recommend sig? Would you know how much it may cost? Two PW3s will cost me around $24k. 27kWh.

                • @bhunter101: No, I don't recommend sig because it will take most people over 10 years to pay back and it's not worth it. Put your money into investments or pay off your mortgage first.

I am getting a battery installed for around 6k instead and payback period will be 4 years vs 16+ for your tesla battery

                  • @Brick50: Which battery? Can you shoot me through details and installer name?

                    • @bhunter101: Fox ess 42kwh battery and 10kw inverter. If you’re in Vic or QLD pm me and I’ll pass on my installers details

                      • @Brick50: Does it do V2H

                        • @bhunter101: You need to do some more research… V2H is for cars. This is a home battery so I have no idea what you mean

                          • +2

@Brick50: He means using ev battery to power home when you have something like sig 25kw bidirectional dc charger. But with battery so cheap nowadays that option is moot, you'll never recover the $7000 cost of the dc charger, I a few years time someone will come up with such charger for a fraction of the price.

                            • @lgacb08: Yeah I know that’s what he means but the foxess doesn’t have wheels in it lol

If he means Dc to dc car charging then the sig can do that yeah

  • +16

I chose this company to install solar based on the many positive recommendations from a previous OzBargain post, so I wanted to share my experience to help future OzBargainers make an informed decision.
The onboarding process was smooth. The team was responsive, knowledgeable, and easy to communicate with. They answered calls and replied to emails promptly during the quoting stage.
However, the after-sales support has been extremely disappointing. If I had to rate it, I’d give it a 2 out of 10. I’ve encountered two issues with the system, both relatively minor in my opinion, but they still affect its proper operation. Initially, the company responded to calls about these issues, but now all calls go to voicemail and are never returned. Communication has shifted entirely to email.
It appears their phone system recognizes your number and links it to your account, as they used to answer calls by name. Now, it typically takes three or more follow-up over a 4–5 week period just to get a response. Even when they do reply and promise updates by COB or the end of the week, they often fail to follow through. Then the cycle repeats.
One issue has been ongoing for over a year, and the second has persisted for more than four months.

Had I known the after-sales experience would be this poor, I wouldn’t have chosen this company. I suppose I got ā€œOzbargainedā€ which has happened for smaller purchases. I didn’t expect that to be the case when spending this amount, especially since very few solar companies advertise on the site, which gave me more confidence in the recommendations.

    • oh shoot - i've just accepted their proposal. Should i back out?

      • +2

I had my system installed with Cerium and so far my experience were ok
I got 1 after sales issue and they usually response by email in 1day

        • Same here, though was 2 years ago. My experience with them at time was good

    • +1

      Hi Foureyedbear,

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I’m truly sorry that we let you down after the installation.

We’ve always prided ourselves on delivering excellent service and going the extra mile for our customers. While demand in our industry has grown significantly, that’s no excuse and we should have done better in your case. Over the past five years we’ve been fortunate to help hundreds from the OzB community, and while most experiences have been positive, I take full ownership when something slips through the cracks.

If you could kindly DM me your job details, I’ll look into it right away and work towards a resolution.

We’ve always aimed to be upfront and transparent in both our posts here and our dealings with customers. For us, it’s never just about the product or price, especially when it comes to something as important as solar. Your feedback helps us learn and improve, and I want you to know we’re committed to doing better, not just for you but for the whole community.

Appreciate you raising it, and I look forward to getting this resolved for you.

      Cheers,
      Matt
      Cerium Energy

Honestly, it’s disappointing that it took a public forum post to get your attention. I’ve seen your private message, but it’s basically the same as what you’ve said in emails and your public reply. At this point, the apologies don’t really mean much when there’s no real action or follow-up to back them up.
Based on the details I’ve provided, you should be able to identify me easily, as you’ve personally been part of the email correspondence. Unless, of course, there are other customers dealing with similar issues.
It’s a real shame the after-sales support has been this poor. I was genuinely planning to add a battery system through your company. But after how hard it’s been just to get help with two relatively minor issues, I can’t imagine how stressful it would be if something major went wrong.

        • +5

Great to have you throwing a bit of transparency on the culture at this company, thanks for sharing your experience.

        • +1

Can we get a bit of an idea as to the particular issues you are having?

          • +2

@Brick50: Sure. Issue 1. It is intermittent but I’ve noticed that on windy days, the inverter trips at the switchboard. Issue 2. The inverter has three MPPTs, and I’ve observed that the voltage on two of them drops significantly around the same time most days. There aren’t any trees, shade, or anything obvious around that could be causing the issue.

        • Hey Mate,

Have sent a DM as well fyi. Once again I totally get your frustration. As I mentioned things haven't gone as they should and we take full ownership of that.

I believe we have had our sparky out to investigate, worked with Sungrow and offered you compensation in the form of cash back for any lost solar due to the issue. My latest email to you was 18th Sep advising that Sungrow is monitoring the system for 30 days and will advise after. Its been raised to their head office as well.

Now none of that makes up for the lack of communication and that's on us mate, its wrong shouldn't have happened.

As mentioned previously we are more than willing to compensate you for the lost solar production, this is not something I am bringing now. If a system doesn't do what its supposed to and we cant get to you or solve it immediately what we do is cover you for any lost solar so that you are never out of pocket until the issue is resolved.

Going one step forward, if Sungrow doesn't want to take accountability I am happy to replace the inverter at our cost.

In regards to the support previously I can apologise and show you with the actions above that we always take every customer seriously and try our best to resolve all matters. During the period where we had interactions it was extremely busy with the rebates and things slipped that's the honest trust, not an excuse.

          Cheers,

          Matt

Would like a follow up, spending that much you expect decent after sales

    • Maybe you should call them with caller ID off?

  • +1

Got my sigenergy 48kwh system installed for a month now and can't be happier
changed to GloBird VPP and able to utilise the 11-2pm free power window to charge the battery
making my energy bill to $0 (and earn around $1 per day)

    • How much was it? Which state?

      • +3

        you mean GloBird VPP?
        this is their page: https://www.globirdenergy.com.au/energy-saver/zerohero/

basically you get free power from 11am to 2pm
then if you dont use any power from grid during 6-8pm, you get $1/day
and if you sell your power to grid during 6-8pm, first 10kw you get $0.15/kw

So if you sell 10kw everyday and not using any power during 6-8pm, you earn $2.5, which offset the daily supply charge $1.29

if you apply through referral, you get $50 credit too

  • Had my 40kw sigenergy system installed last week by Cerium, clean and efficient install. Very happy with the setup. I got quotes from 10 other installers in VIC and everyone was 20% to 50% more expensive than Cerium.

They have installed my solar on my last 3 homes before this install, and never had an issue.

    • How much was that?

      • I had 3.6kw of extra panels install aswell. Was around $19000 out of pocket after all the rebates

  • Aldi Solar is a good option as well to consider. I had a very positive experience deal with Tempo for Sharp after sales service and they seems to be a very reliable company

    Hi @mattcerium,

I recently accepted a quote from your team (Michael - who's been great) for a 32 kWh Battery with 10 kW inverter plus Gateway for whole house backup with DC-coupled existing panels.

The total price I was quoted was $15,000, but I see that you’re offering the same package for $14,700 here. Given that my installation hasn’t yet been scheduled but deposit has been paid, I was really hoping you might be able to extend this updated pricing to me as well.

Would you be able to honour the $14,700 price for my system? It would mean a lot, especially with such a big investment.

Thanks so much for considering — I really appreciate your help and am looking forward to getting my install date confirmed soon.

    M

    • +1

You are splitting hairs, it's $300! I recently had 32kWh of Sigenergy battery installed with 10kWh inverter, but it differs based on single phase vs 3 phase, also had to for an extra $400 due to the copper run between battery and inverter.

      Apples aren't Apples!

PS How will they know your quote from a random forum response with no reference number or details?

      • Obviouslynot for you but to me $300 is a lot of money. We are on ozbargain after all.
If Matt says the magic word, ill make sure they know who i am.

  • Do I need solar for these batteries? I want to charge them during the free / off peak time. Not sure if that’s possible

    • Yes because you can’t get the battery rebate without existing solar.

But technically to answer your question no you don’t need solar and you can do as you mention

    • Hey Mate,

Technically no you dont need solar to install a home battery. However to be eligable for the federal battery rebate you must already have solar or install solar along with the battery.

No point installing battery without the rebate fyi.

Happy to see what we can offer please get in touch via our website or send a DM here.

      Cheers,

  • How much is this deal in NSW please?

  • Wouldn't the 5kW controller be a bottleneck even if the upgraded 10kW hybrid inverter is chosen ?

    • Hey bar6gain,

Apologies for the confusion, the term controller and Hybrid Inverter refer to the same item. Controller is a word Sig uses interchangeably with Hybrid Inverter.

I have updated the offer to reflect the word Hybrid Inverter so it doesn't confuse others.

The size of the inverter will determine the max charge and discharge rate from the battery. Also noting each 8kWh module can charge and discharge 4kW at a time. So a 16kWh system is limited to max charge and discharge rate of 8kW, even of a 10kW or larger inverter.

      Hope that clears things up.

      Cheers,

      Matt
