    • Dunno but personally I prefer the look of the Tapo lock plus I'm running the Tapo ecosystem.
Tapo also has a built in door bell feature but the Aqara doesn't.
Tapo is overseas stock and Aqara is local from OW - however I checked a few 2xxx postcodes and none of them have stock.

      • I ordered Aqara U100 and it is ready for me to pick up at officeworks, but I was also looking at tapo.

  • +1

In apartment buildings, changing locks is usually prohibited (for various reasons), but there are locks on the market that are installed on top of the thumb turn. One of them is SwitchBot Lock.

    • Correct. Mainly due to fire safety code compliance and keeping with building asthetics.
This is for those that have no restrictions on changing their locks.

I have installed this in my apartment. It's been very reliable, especially when compared to my previous Yale, which I returned.

    • can someone remove this from outside and how difficult?

      • +1

All of the screws are on the inside. They would have to destroy the lock to remove it from the outside. Not really possible.

  • Got this via USA from earlier deal. Can recommend for sure. Solid and user friendly with fingerprint reader being good.
Only downside is that is doesn't really integrate with Home Assistant but not many do and some cost $600

    • What would you need it to integrate for?

      • Perhaps to have a central control for all smart products instead of accessing each on in their proprietary app.

  • My current door lock has a handle (like this one https://www.amazon.com.au/HENYIN-Hardware-Handle-Closet-Lock…). I wonder if I replaced that with this Tapo DL110, can I still close the door without locking it?

  • how difficult would this be to install? I have a 'dumb' keypad lock currently on the door that has stopped working.

  • I bought one of the TMEZON style units (under a different brand) back in 2023, it's on an outside shed door and not under cover and it has been faultless. With the lever handle and the thumb fingerprint reader being where your thumb would sit anyway makes it simple to use. It copped 600mm rain in one day, and has only had 1 battery change. Solid at half the price.
