Is there anything in VIC similar to this ?

Is there anything in QLD similar to this ?

      • Is there anything in TAS similar to this ?

word of advice, read fine print on this - as we had 3 seperate leaks, all which they were unable to repair. Basically paid the money to have them come and tell me no can't fix that type 3 times.

Don't they just hire out normal plumbers but paid with govt money? It should just be that they cant do the job in the scope of waterfix, or that you'd have to pay extra.

    • What kind of leaks? We have usual tap leaks due to washer replacements or toilet leaks and the plumbers here in Vic charge $300+ for a few taps. Wish something like this was available in Vic.

    • So was it out of scope or they just didn't have the knowledge or skills to do the repair? Did they offer a solution?

      • Its likely out of scope as defined in the terms and conditions. Sydney Water will only do a specific set of repairs/replacements otherwise they will advise for you to organise a separate plumber.

Tough luck if its a mixer leak.

Yeah that is why you have to be honest what the problem is. They will then confirm on the phone whether it is covered before the booking.

At most, you can get your shower head replaced and outdoor taps. I read somewhere that their pricing for Toilet Replacement is worth the price.

      • From memory it was just out of scope. To this day, I’m still not totally clear on it even after reading the t&c. I think some were quarter a turn taps, which they couldn’t do. One thing that was annoying is it’s not super clear on their website.

    • ++ this.

Call out fee charging business i dont like for this exact reason too.

Other times they come and give you a massive price than standard cost for such a repairs, and ofc no one is stupid enough to pay like $1000 for a minor toilet blockage, or tap leak fix. Then these services demand $$ 50-500 for visiting and giving a price.

  • is there a vic equivalent??

  • +2

We used them to get a free shower head replacement and replace a single flush toilet for $200.

  • +4

Can we get this in Vic?

Last time I got a 'quote' for a leaking toilet, Metropolitan plumbing (known scam company) were trying it on with $450 just to attend. Most legit plumbers won't even get out of bed if it's less than $300 for 20 seconds of work.

I will happily let that toilet leak for a decade rather than give them a cent.

    • How long does it take to learn plumbing course ? Seriously thinking

      • ChatGPT. If you’re handy you should alright

This is misleading "WaterFix Residential can help you save water at home by fixing visible leaks at no cost"

All the options have a callout fee, so its definitely not no cost. Maybe a complaint to ACCC.

    • Technically it is at no cost. The cost is for fixing the tap, just because they charge a call out fee, doesnt mean its at costs. Im sure your receipt will say Tap fix $0.00, call out charge $44, so yeah the cost to fix the tap is "At no cost"

How about I will build you a house at no cost.

Just a simple $2m callout fee.

        • 🤣😉🤣🤣🤣🤣

        • Sure, I will have a 10 bedroom, 10 bathroom, 4 storey house, with marble floors and gold trimmings throughout.. bargain

  • This is an excellent service. Highly recommend them

  • Can I hire them out for dripping taps and provide my own taps for them to replace it with?

    • Yes you can I had a leaking sink mixer and I supplied one and they replaced. It’s a set price plus call out fee. Saved heaps compared to plumber doing it

  • Leaking outdoor tap replacement
$0 per tap + callout fee

What's the definition? I asked about a garden tap before and they wouldn't answer clearly.
    Sounded like not covered.

    • They fixed an outdoor tap for me.

  • This service is amazing.

In my experience plumbers where I live in Sydney provide very little transparency about their pricing, in the sense they won’t disclose anything except maybe their call out rate, before they get out on site where can put pressure on you to sign up to the job on the spot, and upsell you a pressure limiter or something else you don’t need.

This service provides transparency and an affordable service. After being ripped off by a local plumber I will always use Waterfix.

I used this service once, years ago. The results would depend on the plumber you get - ours was in a big hurry to finish the job, and as he was leaving I realised the tap he had fixed now wouldn't shut off fully. I called him back as he was being out of the driveway and he fixed it. I later found the water saving change he made to our toilet was just to bend the rod of the float down so it didn't fill the cistern as high. Not sure if that then translated to payment to him for a water saving device from the govt.
