Have an older Dyson vacuum and an excess of Ozito batteries. Figured a battery adaptor might solve my problems but a cost effective solution didn't seem likely, even less so after visiting AliExpress. Very surprised to find an adaptor available at this price on Amazon AU.

The Dyson batteries have a higher voltage than tool batteries like Ozito PXC (6s vs 5s) so I expect the highest setting will not be as powerful. That said, the current battery drains too fast for us to use the higher suction mode anyway.

Where U think U posting bruv

    • +6

Yes, I know I don't have nearly enough. Partner was over my shoulder so I had to play it safe.

edit: hoping this will justify more batteries

You got an audible ha out of me. Well played.

    Would it work on gen5detect?

    • +1

No chance whatsoever ….. different voltage.

      • There absolutely is a Makita 18v adapters for the gen 5. So make (3D print) / find an einhell version.

No smarts in powering it up. Just a button switch making a connection to the battery.

At lower voltage, it will spin slower…but… Run it in boost mode and it will happily chug along.

  • Said one left but unable to buy.

  • Good idea though, need one for other brand batteries…

Got one of these, fantastic for extending the life of my V8. Anyone know where we can get a decent motor head? I picked one up from amazon but it cuts out after 5 minutes of work.

    • I have one, pm me if interested.

      • Would like to know where to buy one or you mean you got a spare?

        • I've got a new genuine spare motor which i don't need. Had a problem with my V8 but turned out to be the BMS and not the motor. Got it from the UK. Looks and feels exactly like the old one.

Search on Aliexpress for Einhell adaptors, they work with Ozito.

My frankenstein Dyson v6 is working well :)

  • Damn I bought mine from vacuumspares and paid $30…

  • Nice find OP, anyone seen these for the smaller brother being the ol' V6?

    • +1

I have the Makita adapter on the DC59, best upgrade ever, search on Amazon for your model and which battery you want to use.

  • Do you have any recommendations for an Ozito–Dyson V10 adapter? I’ve seen it priced at around $39.99 in most places, but I’m wondering if there are any reliable and more affordable alternatives.

  • +1

I've been using a similar one for a while, it's awesome

  • +1

good stuff i got makita one for my v6, also extra filter , works like wonder now

  • Paid ~$28 for one and the Dyson V8 has never worked better . 3 screws to remove , very easy .

Saw these but had concerns about the voltage difference. I ended up with a replacement aftermarket battery, 4.6Ah for about $35. Last one worked for over 3.5yrs so seems a reasonable value proposition.

  • I had one of these and it worked ok at first then started playing up, to the point it wouldn't work. Apparently I'm told the BMS is in the Dyson battery itself so that's why the adaptor plays up.

    • +2

Yep, BMS in the battery. Same is true for all tool brands I know of except Bosch. I think this adaptor is little more than two wires with an LED along the way.

      • +1

It also has a low voltage cut out.

The Ozito battery has its own BMS inside the battery….and unlike Dyson's…it has balancing and works.

If you had issues, it would mean either your battery itself was dieing, or the low voltage cut out played up. …or being Ali Express…its probably just a bad solder joint.

I've resoldered basically every product I have bought from Ali in the last 2 years. Some are absolute shockers.

  • Awesome find. Grabbed a DeWalt adapter

    • Hi do you have a link for dewalt adapter ? After one for v7/v8 with XR 5ah battery. TIA

Tip - If you have a Dyson V8 or similar, with washable filters, then give them a wash as per the owners manual and allow them to dry thoroughly. You might find (like I did) that that battery you thought was on the way out is actually fine and it was just a barely visible build up of dust on the filters ristricting the airflow causing the vacuum to stop.

    • +2

I also use the Ozito blower from the top of the vacuum where the filter is inserted to give all the dust a blast

    • +1

Yeah already done this. In fact I did this not just the main filter also the back end and also the core filter which you need to dig in this is especially for V6

Bought this (as Einhell v7/v8) from Aliexpress for about $21 delivered 3 months ago - works very well with Ozito 2.5mah and 4mah batteries - compared to old Dyson battery, plenty of suction for a long time (even when on top setting although on top setting Ozito battery gets a bit warm)

    • Use the 4ah (2 rows of cells).

The 2.5Ah, and ironically the original Dyson battery are a single row and are not suitable in boost mode.

Yep…. Dodgey Dyson sold umpteen million units not fit for purpose. He also didn't enable the cell balancing (so packs die prematurely). Anyone else would be doing jail time.

      • How dare you talk this way about the INVENTOR of the brushless motor, not to mention the ballbarrow

    • Question. Does the ozito battery is charged by the dyson charger or I'd need to connect it to the ozito charger? Does the dyson stay okay on the wall holder with the adapter + bigger battery?

      • +1

Need to use ozito charger, won't fit the the wall holder

    • -1

Got a link for that on Aliexpress? The one I bought does not work with 2.5MAh batteries they don't give enough output 3.5 and 4Mah are fine

  • +4

For those that missed out, this is the cheapest I can find on Amazon at $19.99. Double money day but still not a bad price.

  • Ebay sell similar things but more expensive, but, compare purchase a original Dyson battery, still worth to try, so good now you can replace a battery and recharge it easily, hope Dyson can come out some idea so battery can be easily remove or add a few AA recharge battery.

    • Sadly no sensible amount of NiMH AA batteries has the power density for a vacuum. Even with a BMS Li-ion batteries are too dangerous for the user to be trusted to use suitable cells.

In an ideal world there would be a shared connection standard, I think for now tool batteries are a good modular format and with these adapters a reasonable alternative. Ozito batteries can be had dirt cheap, chargers too, more than once I've seen a charger lying on the nature strip.
