Grays.com - Grays Group Entered Voluntary Administration on Friday

Controversial auction platform Grays Online has been placed into administration just days after being sold to Slattery Auctions for $2 million, raising questions over whether the move was designed to sidestep a $10 million penalty imposed by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

I thought it was like Grays Anatomy for young people (who like to surf the world wide web).

It did have some decent items, but I always found the fees to be way too high

    • Yeah I got a few cheap cars which I resold for profit over the years. Though it was a dumping ground.

  • Seems like there's a well known company being put into administration every second week.

Bought a few cars from Grays but not without going to the lot and thoroughly inspecting. In all cases accurately assessed or assumed the fault/s and fixed them myself but only because I was very familiar with the particular make/model. Very happy with the deals I got and they're still in the family today.

It was concerning that a lot of people would approach me asking me to inspect a car for them and give my opinion, even after I told them I wasn't a mechanic and didn't know anything about the car they were looking at. These are the people who think they're getting a bargain price on a perfect car, then don't have the money to repair once they get it and discover the issues and lose out in the end. Really just no comprehension of what they are doing, the reasons cars are at auction, or oblivious to the risks and the fine-print.

Selling broken down shit box cars and lying to consumers about them has finally caught up with them, has it?

I had a feeling the writing was on the wall when they lost their defence force surplus contract and that went to Pickles.
