Bloody hell, i couldnt resist this. Had been waiting a long time and then kind of gave up, but this price snared me. Do i need it? No. Do i want it? Hell yes.

  • worth getting the tkl and a numb pad? or the full size? i dont really need the joystick

    • I have the numpad as well, imo worth it - although pretty expensive for what it is. Loosely attaches to the side of the keyboard via magnets and has a button that turns it into a standalone calculator.

      • Oh, I did not know that they had magnets that help attach it to the main keyboard. Interesting.

      • is it diy magnets?

      • I have the Fami edition of both and they don't have magnets. Is that an addition to the C64 version?

  • is this better than keychron k10? thank you

  • FYI that's the N version, not the Famicon version.

But yes, these are all great prices.

    • Cheers, updated.

    • any difference apart from colour?

      • +2

No difference. The N and the Famicon versions were released concurrently and did not have any unique features compared with each other beyond the colours and the keycap legends.

The C64 version came later and was released with an extra joy stick.

  • Thanks, grabbed one

  • how does it sound and feel? is like more like brown switches?

    • +1

oh you cant pair more than 1 device via bt… that is a deal breaker for me :(

    • +1

The computer is $300 USD, plus tax and shipping. It blows out. I considered getting one when they were announced but I already have several real C64s and the OG Ultimate motherboard in a breadbin case :)

      • +1

Ooh yeah, nice collection. I didn't consider the USD etc.

Awesome keyboard, been using it as my daily driver for the last 14 months

  • Bought this and refunded. I couldn't stand how loud the clicky sound was. Your household would be pissed off by the noise. Check YouTube to get a sense. Awlful for me.
They made it for a specific market.

    • The switches are clicky, not the keyboard

Curious, did you watch/listen to any sound tests of the Box White V2s before buying?

    • It's a hotswap keyboard for a reason, if that's your issue then just swap for any linear switches or even slient ones for extra measure lol.

      • Then you need to buy for linear/slient switches. Another one in the bank

        • +1

You can get decent budget linear switches only Aliexpress like 20 bucks for a TKL keyboard. I get that you can dislike the keyboard because of the aesthetic or other things, but if you like the keeb and the only thing stop you from using it is the switches then swap them. Before when hotswap is not a thing, people even has to de-solder and void warranty when they want to swap out the switches. Now everything is so simple with hotswap, your keyboard will be a daily driver for years and that much is worth for the upgrade.

I seriously think you don't like this keyboard that much, not just the switch sound issue. Because if you find adding a bit more money to swap the switches is a problem, then you shouldn't buy a 100$ keyboard at all lol.

@Masticccc: This is what I did. Budget Outemu Silent Peach or Lemon are dirt cheap on AliExpress, often through Bundle Deals. I love them.

          • @Masticccc: haha you're right on point! Initially I liked the old school retro aesthetic. But it is so chunky. I had to look for something more compact.

            • @PeeDee: Not sure if you have the budget for the rabbit hole, but Class65 has a retro look and retro gaming controller weight. It's sold out but I think you can find aftermarket.

But honestly, any beige color keyboard case + a retro theme keycap set is sufficient for an old school look. Check this GMK keycap database, find keyword for beige/dolch/retro… there are many to decide. Then search the one you want on Aliexpress/Amazon, the popular colorways will have clones for sale at affordable price (unless you want to get GMK ones which is ~150USD/set). If you don't want China budget clones or expensive GMK, JTK/ePBT/DMK/KKB are other keycap manufacturers to look for.

    • I am the target market. If it doesn't sound like a hailstorm then why even bother?

  • I have the N version - is fun.

  • I got the XBox/Halo one recently from Aliex for 135. Really really like it

  • Anyone know the difference between N and C64 ver? Is it all just different colours?

    • +1

one is nintendo one is commodore?

      • Right, I meant, no feature difference haha.

The C64 one seems like it comes with the joystick for $15 less so I was wondering.

  • Why does the 108 key N version never go on special :(

  • +1

Urgh bought. Hoping it increases work productivity by custom mapping the big buttons and joystick

I've got this for a couple of years now, I love it.

Also, I have it connected to 2 different computers, one bluetooth, one its own 2.5gh connector. I switch between computers about 50 times a day, works flawlessly.

  • Compatible with Mac?

Numpad was about $60 last deal and is cheaper on Ali with bonus cashback if I can wait.

    • so these 8bitdo products are safe to purchase off Ali? I also get the feeling i'm getting some kind of non genuine goods when i purchase from there.

      • It has been posted here and classified as the same as the Amazon one, so I guess yes safe, instead with more colour choices. I haven't bought one myself. Maybe in the next sale.

It seems like the price right this moment is pretty good?

EDIT: Went ahead and purchased an M version. If it arrives looking legit I might pull the trigger on the others.

          • @coldazure: Yes the price seems ok considering 15% cb hasn't expired. But I've been buying this and that on prime sales and … thinking … and that deal won't go anywhere soon … well … I shall pull one too since I haven't exhausted my cashback cap. Thinking …

  • god damnit I missed

    • +1

Lucky I bought first thought later. Secured one. I know these are not lasting long as per previous posts.

      • 😭

  • I missed it too
