  • Would this be any good for watching movies on a tv (using a usb adapter)? I have a samsung 1tb ssd but parents looking for something and this seems reasonably priced and low profile

  • +2

I would probably just go with a normal thumb drive if it was used for TV,

I found this one from the same brand has both USB C & A, it's definitely overkill for file transfer speed but it's definitely a fast drive.

    • Brilliant thanks for the help. Will have a look

      • This seems like a good deal itself.

    • Does this use like ssd flash or something ?

  • How is the Silicon Power brand compared to the more well known ones like Samsung or Sandisk?

    • Generally worse. I've had a SP nmve drive die on me while the Samsung has had no issues. Same runtime/heat conditions etc.

  • I used this for my Switch CFW and started having issues where the flash slowed down considerably after a year or so. I had to reformat and rewrite the files for the read performance to come back. Seems like flash cell degradation is a real issue with these cheaper flash drives. I would save the money and buy the Samsung brand or SanDisk.

    • I've got the more expensive A2 version of this card and have used in my Retroid Pocket 5 and Rg556. Last night i bought the Sandisk Extreme 1tb for my SteamDeck for $129. Seems like a good deal for that card.

  • +1

I had 5 out of 15 64gb sp micro sd fail within 18 months. I have not had a Samsung or SanDisk fail yet.

    • 64gb cards would have been made many years back, I'm sure things have changed over the years.
