hm sadly nothing. Only got nespresso offer

    • Nespresso appeared this morning, but the restaurants offer came last week in mine, mixed in along with all of the Daylight Savings weekend offers.

    • don't worry, I haven't been to any of those listed restaurants.

Still waiting for the cashback from their Darling Harbour one - going on a month now (and it was a horrible feed @ Meatworks & Co).

Got it! The participating restaurants are here btw:

    Slim pickings for QLD :(

    • one of those restaurants got a fine for a cockroach infestation too LOL

      • Which one?

        • Gino's

      • Don't go - truly gross. Had a 50% eatclub deal once - there's a reason why it's 50%.

  • +5

Never heard of any of these places, must be all the high class places that charge $200 for a side of salad lol

    • -1

You can literally use the internet to sus them out. Pizza shop in qld looks like a great choice for me with reasonable prices and only a short drive.

Choice of one restaurant in Perth!!

Think I'll stick to MyNRMA and EatClub - much better!

Saw the Amex card ads everywhere, what's special about it, wondering if I really need one of these

    • +4

the customer care is ridiculously good, no other provider in Australia offers a charge card product, and they have the highest point earn rates.

      • I kinda get that part, but isn't they charge 2% extra for every purchase? Or there are situations where they don't charge the extra 2%? Sorry I don't have any credit card experience in my life.

        • +1

if you talking about cc in general yes, most of them charge the highest surcharge for all ccs out of greed anyways, most overpriced things don’t have surcharges like woolies and coles

        • +2

Some places don't do surcharges for Amex e.g. Coles, Woolies, JB Hi-Fi (eventually; they once wanted 2.65%). Not everywhere takes Amex though

      • Not to mention free travel insurance if you have even their basic level platinum card; actually had to use it once as I couldn’t make my trip because of last minute medical emergency the week of my flight and was able to claim my travel expenses back. Recently took advantage of a $100 cash back deal for hotel booking down in Sydney as well.

    • Deals like $10 off $50/$60 at Myer (buy Coles Myer GC). Last year I got it on my main account and supplementary cards. Easy $40. Costs me nothing with my free Amex card.

Miss the days of the ShopSmall days spend $20 to get $10 CB deals…

    Extremely small selection of restaurants

Waste of time for almost everyone

    • +2

Speak the truth and get neg'd.

    • Not every deal is for you

      • -6

Sage words with which I concur.

Also, extremely small selection of restaurants here; waste of time for almost everyone.

You can double this up with First Table (50%) for restaurants that are on this list! We did recently and instead of $200 the meal cost $80. Well worth it

    • Can also double up with Uber Eats Dine Out (in Sydney).

Just ate at Blackbird and paid $40 for a $100 meal.

    • Just looked up first table after reading your comment but it looks like they handle the payment. Just wondering how you double dip? Will the payment show up as the name of the restaurant or first table?

      • +2

No you just book with First Table, and pay (with amex) directly at the restaurant

  • For VIC, the only name that piqued my interest is Yim Yams, but last time I had it was 10 years ago when they were still a small affordable Laos eatery. Seems theyre getting classy now?

    • -1

Any name except Jacinta Allen thanks

  • 10 nuggies for the price of 8.

  • I got this but the restaurant selection is horrible so not really worth it

  • +1

Agree! An just 2 in SA - and 1 in the Clare Velley - as if I'd drive 2 hours each way for 20% off

    • yep. I got sent the deal then checked what was on offer.. yeah…NAH

  • Unless I've missed another way to take advantage of Amex, is it not going to be worth holding the card after December this year when it seems all of the airline partner transfers are going up? eg Instead of 2 Amex Membership Rewards points converting to 1 Airline Partner (Cathay Pacific, Qatar etc..), it'll now be 3 MR pts = 1 Airline pts

    • A few stay the same, eg Virgin.

      • No, I think Virgin is getting devalued as well. It's KF that stays the same.

        • Virgin Australia stays 2:1. Virgin Atlantic moves to 3:1

  • +2

What happened to the shop small deals where you got 20% of basically everywhere that sold food and drink?
