    Yeah, poor quality post.
    Other sizes in this range also half price.

    Have tried these once and not impressed - they seem to tear more easily than even the cheapest homebrand ones I usually buy.

  Plant-based. Biodegradable. Bioplastics. Blah blah blah.

  They are just as toxic as some of the worst plastics eg PVC.

  A comparison with conventional plastics indicates that bioplastics and plant-based materials are similarly toxic. This highlights the need to focus more on aspects of chemical safety when designing truly "better" plastic alternatives.

  They amplify poverty and malnutrition for the worlds' poorest.

  The sugars used to make bioplastic often come from transgenic crops sprayed with herbicides and pesticides, and these crops take land out of production that is needed to feed a growing global population. This mirrors the problems found in biofuels, which were similarly seen as an environmental solution. Experts say that using bioplastic and biofuels will greatly increase the land needed for agriculture.

  And these plastics often are just traditional plastics with a sprinkle of some plant-derived ingredient added for the sake of greenwashing.

  Further complicating matters, so­­­­­­­­­­me materials – called “bio-derived” plastics – are made from a combination of fossil fuel and plant sources, but marketers tend to downplay the former and amplify the latter.
  “Having some of the feedstock come from modern plants allows companies to advertise with ambiguous words like ‘green’ and ‘natural,’ and depicting green leaves and trees in their graphics,’”

  Most 'bioplastics' are only biodegradable under special conditions in carefully temparture and oxygen controlled composting environments; which doesn't happen in your stock standard landfill or garbage tip.
