  • watch an ad and then get a time allowance to use at low speed

What's the ratio of ad time to low speed internet time :)

    • Ad length varies. Just watched a 11 second ad to get 30 minutes of data

      • Any idea if that is 30 straight minutes from when it starts, or just 30 minutes to use whenever?

        • Timer starts straight away

          • @Nils: Does that mean I can't watch the ad in advance while I still have wifi access? Example: I watch the ad at Melbourne airport before boarding the flight and get 30mins of data to use. Can I bank that 30 minutes to use when I land at New Zealand airport? If so, can I use the 30mins to watch more ads and get more free data on top of the initial 30 mins?

            • @ganjadeals: You can’t "bank", I think. Timer always starts right away. But you watch the ad using the freely SIM on their network anyways. So no need to pre-load

Get to NZ, watch ads (not sure what the max is) and then enjoy internet for free.

        • You can bank up to 5 hours by watching 10 ads in total in one go

  • 256kbps connection.

Seems useful when you're just doing transit tour.

    • Good enough for maps etc

  • Free (with ads)!? OzBargainers are gonna get around this one!

  • To ensure fair usage, free data is currently capped at 300 MB per 24 hour period.

Should be enough for low data usage.

  • Open the Firsty app and watch a short ad.
Want more time? Just watch another one.
You can stack up to six hours of free mobile internet in one go.
Once you run out, simply watch a few more ads to stay connected.

  • Maybe it will improve, but can’t connect after installing eSIM. I’m on Optus as my main line (Yomojo) and data works fine. Firsty is using Optus for me, has full bars, but still getting “unstable connection” in the app.

    • Unfortunately I'm facing the same issue. Wondering if there is a workaround to this.

      • I had the same issue and spent ages in the chat, and got it working eventually.

Create and select a new APN:
        name: 65ideas
        apn: e-ideas

Turn on airplane mode wait 30 seconds
Turn off airplane mode wait 30 seconds
        Force close firsty app
        restart phone

No idea why but the airplane mode and app closing in that order seems to make a difference.

Now after all the chat I realize the speed/network quality is probably too slow to be worth the trouble.

        IP location Singapore

        Speed test 1:
        210/321kpbs
        278ms latency
        778ms jitter
        3.9% packet loss

        Speed test 2:
        287/333kbps
        308ms latency
        338ms jitter
        10.1% packet loss

this is with Cloudflare speed test

    • Sometimes I had to turnon airplane mode several times to get it working.

  • Their paid plan has a pretty impressive list of out of the way countries supported compared to the likes of Flexiroam or Airalo

  • 300mb like one image downloaded off whatsapp?

  • Mmm all that free data harvested.

    • Install a browser just for firsty, and route all other apps (including your normal browser) through a VPN?

      • how does the routing part work? any apps for that on android?

        • Read here and follow the link for split tunneling.

  • This seems like a very good price

  • Is this just data?
Are there any cheap plans that include (minimal) calls/texts?

  • has been changed to watch Ad earn 20 MB

maxed out at 10 Ads per day

    so 200 MB per day.

    data expires in 7 days.

  • I am getting 1MPBS speeds but the data limit appears to have been reduced down to 200MB now

  • This worked the first day or two, now completely dead. Says I have data but nothing ever loads :(

Tried in both metro & regions parts of NSW.

    Anyone else had better luck?
