Good advice but I've built a few PC's with this board on Jonsbo C6 15 liters Case and I'm able to fit Sapphire Pulse RX6600XT and RX9060XT with a 120mm fan at the bottom
Can you explain why its old tech?
This board will support Zen6 and Zen7?.. the B650 Chip-set is 100% identical in every way to the B850 chip-set its the same silicon.
Rebranding the old name doesn't make it old tech
Missing front type C if that’s important to you. Recently picked up the b650 asus prime wifi which does for $155.
Does a type-c give out more power? The standard USB gives out about 0.5A
USB2.x spec was minimum 0.5A
USB3.x increased this to minimum 0.9A
I'm not sure the physical USB C connector has its own USB spec standard for minimum power, I don't think so but I don't need to keep track of this stuff anymore. Generally USB C ports are USB3.x or higher anyway though so you can generally expect them to be minimum 0.9A.
In practice, it has been common for motherboards to support higher minimums than the USB2.0 spec anyway, although it is likely hard to find info on this for any particular device without studying the circuit and having enough knowledge to identify which components/tracks/wires in the power supply chain is going to be the actual bottleneck.
There is also a chance, albeit unlikely, that you run into issues with the prevalence of non-conforming USB devices and the prevalence of "dumb" shared power supplies between multiple USB ports, whereby its possible for conforming USB ports on a mobo to fail to provide the minimum current because you have a non-conforming device plugged into another USB port thats sharing the same power supply and chewing more power than it should.
If you run into USB power supply limitations you can often solve it by routing the power-sucking culprits via an externally powered USB hub (ie. a USB hub that has its own A/C wall plug power supply).
i can see on the back panel it has usb-c
What's the vrm like? Can it take a x950x3d?
Yes it can but you may need to use the bios flashback button to update it to the latest bios.
The VRM's on this i think are like 6 or 8 phase so they will run a little hotter then 10-14 phase boards. If you have lots of fans (6x or more) in your case this wont be a problem.
Why would you spend $1000 on a CPU and then seriously cheap out on the motherboard?
Thats also what i was thinking… if you spend $800 to 900 on a CPU you should at least spend $200-$250 on a motherboard with at least a 12 phase power delivery to rule out any performance thermal throttling
I've been putting in low power draw Ryzen 7500F CPU's that i get from Aliexpress for $120-170 on this motherboard :) its made for these 65w CPU's
Keep in mind the GPU slot is in the 2nd slot on this mobo, so for those with smaller mATX cases clearance/GPU width may be an issue.
