Hey guys
My partner is looking to buy a new Stand Mixer to replace one that is starting to fall apart. She's looking at the keyword on Amazon for 549 but before biting the bullet figured i would ask what people are using and what everyone suggests.

Thanks will tell her to look at these ones. Apprently the one she was looking at on amazon(Kenwood Kmix) had aome bad reviews so she was hesitant.
If you want to use generic attachments then Kitchen Aid is probably best.
Ahhh thats the one i want. For all my mixing needs.
Kitchen aid, so long as she can lift it…or you can allocate permanent bench space
When we did our kitchen renovation we put in extra deep benches so we could put the appliances permanently on the bench and just bring them forward as we need to use them.
WCON. Another one down.
Kitchenaid recommendation here as well
Mrs tried overworking hers on a dough recently, killed the gear system. Cost me under $100 in parts to fix it myself
Isn't there a sacrificial gear in there that is designed to give out to protect the motor?
Yep
Yeah nice, did you just need to swap in a new or were there other parts that needed replacing?
@Cheaplikethebird: So for you and @knobbs this is how I went about it:
Parts:
https://www.statewideapp.com.au/kitchenaid-stand-mixer-gearb…
https://www.statewideapp.com.au/kitchenaid-stand-mixer-worm-…
https://www.statewideapp.com.au/inox-mx6-food-grade-grease-f…
You'll need basic screwdriver etc, but you'll also need a punch set if you don't already have one
Instructions I followed:

That guy is also very active on Reddit if you have issues
It did make me wonder how many units get thrown out just for a cheap fix!
Sounds like what happened to ours. How do you go about repair? Was close to just buying something new
Check YouTube, some good repair guides on there
Grab the Kitchenaid so you can get the meat grinder attachment. The cost to satisfaction ratio for homemade burgers could only be beaten by pizzas and they're heaps more effort.
A meat grinder attachment, looking it up right now.
Happy with my Kenwood if you don't want to go for Kitchenaid. Been rock solid.
Kitchenaid Lift or Kenwood
Kenwood mixers are great - but the older ones are the 7 series, and newer are the 9 series and attachments aren't compatible between these models.
It was explained to me as 'Kenwood realised that you can't kill them, even if you drop them two floors from a building. So they figured the only way to make more money was to make new model so that people needed to buy more attachments'. Makes sense, really.
I highly suggest to avoid KitchenAid, at least the ones with a tilting head. I bought one years ago, and it has been good only for few months. After some prolonged use, the ones with the tilting tend to have issues with the gears. I repaired it three times, and it gets the same issues with the gears after some time. I discovered I am not the only one with the same issue after I read of other people experiencing it. I eventually gave up repairing it, and I look forward to the day it will break. If I had to buy a new one, I would definitely choose Kenwood. Hope this helps.
I think Kenqood is what my partner is leaninf towards so she'll be happy to hear this.
What were you mixing?
If it was a dough, it's not recommended to go above speed 3 or so I think
Kitchen aid lift bowl ones.
