More so.. at least for me anyway.
I'd say it's pretty different to Demon Slayer - I like it though, it's a different take on things. Definitely worth the watch especially given the move just came out so you'd have full context for that (not yet seen the movie but seems rated well)
This is way better and I'd say more adult, demon slayer is your typical shounen.

Recently, a director's cut of S1 has been released, but I'm not sure if this is the original or an updated version.
Long story short, in the director's cut version, the studio recut the whole show and removed the director's name (Nakayama Ryu) from the credits.

Long Story: Chainsaw Man
was recut for a compilation movie released in preparation for the Reze Arc movie to address criticism from some Japanese fans who found the first season's art style too realistic and slow. The recut features re-recorded voice acting, faster action sequences, and a more energetic tone, aligning the adaptation more closely with the source material. The director of the original season, Ryu Nakayama, was not credited for the compilation movie, leading to speculation that his name was removed due to the backlash he received.
…Personally I did not mind the pace of the original reflecting the true dynamics of a person in the tragic boys situation. I do understand not everyone likes to wait until the next dramatic point in a story, in the mould of "and then what happens…"
Weird, I liked the cinematic style and tone of S1 but I didn't read the manga for CSM.

Accompanied some people to see the movie recently, didn’t understand a thing but it’s entertaining, animation and music are great.
