Usually $53.95, e.g. Bunnings. https://www.bunnings.com.au/wd-40-4l-multi-use-product-bulk-…

After many unfinished cans of WD-40 due to them losing pressure and being an infrequent user, I have since switched to the non-aerosol liquid type
… Yes I decided to shell out for the nice branded metal to eventually refill. Stupidly need to hack it open to do so 🙄

Have been keeping an eye for any deal for the 4L refill and got an old 3 Camels alert I had set up.

Just noticed probably matching Sparesbox eBay price? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/186208757879

  • honestly never knew this level of bulk buy was a thing. I have several rusty multi-generational hand-me-down aerosol cans in the shed that still work as was expected in the 80's-90's-00's…Never paused to think of an alternative…God bless WD-40

    • I would've preferred smaller/cheaper but 4L seems to be the only product.

Now I've got a lifetime supply worth :P

        inter-generational magic liquid.

    • +1

This is the true generational wealth

Are those non aerosol bottles refillable?

  • +1

I find myself using a singer sewing machine oil bottle is the best dispenser. No pesky aerosols to deal with.

    • Where to get the sewing machine oil? I need some.

      • Spotlight

        • Thanks, but very expensive. I need replace my sewing machine and overlocker. They are almost empty. Need at least 2 litres.

          • @mecind: Any decent sewing place should be able to supply the quantity you are chasing. Much cheaper than buying from Spotlight.

Now I can bathe in WD40

    • +1

I douse myself in it after a bath, then I don’t need to use a towel

    • good for ache and stiff joints?

    • Just wondering which parts of yours got rusted

      • +1

Well my knees are sounding a bit rusty these days

  • Wow that's a lot of wd40… Does it give me more ram if I submerged my phone in it? Actually, what happens?

Edit: if it works in non-aerosol bottles, it should work in normal plastic trigger bottles? Or is it light-sensitive?

  • Fab deal. Thanks!

  • Does this prevent rust? Say I clean some metal parts (e.g. hinges, bolts), does it displace water?

Perhaps one of those oil spray bottles might work well?

    • WD-40 stands for Water displacement (attempt) 40. So yeah it was made for displacing water as far as I aware.

    • +1

You need to replace the wd40 with something once youve used it, as it is a solvent

      • +3

This. Wd40 is a solvent and its mediocre at best as a lubricant and rust preventer.

Inox is far better and is Australian. Inox grease when you need that extra lubrication.

I (and others) use Inox grease for my rifle bolts, and Inox as a light gun oil to prevent rust. I would never even think of using WD40

        • Lanox where it is mate. Aka kiwi perfume 🤣
You be making friends at the range faster then at a blue light disco.

          • @gtech: I like Lanox for fishing gear. Not so much for my rifles

I seriously havent used WD40 for 10+ years. I have so many cans sitting there unused

  • +1

What in the Diddy would one do with 4L of WD-40?

    • +1

      Lube for Buck Naked

      • Safe practice concerning

    • Split it with a mate (or two) and get a few decades worth instead of a few lifetimes?

  • +2
