  • Has anyone come across vesa-mount-compatible iPad cases?

    • +2

There's some stickers that you can stick on any case you have like this
      Probably better deals around

      • Thanks that’s an interesting one. Will investigate.

Not sure theres a market for that because a vesa mount would make the ipad very bulky. The stickers is an option but I don't know how well they'd stand up to heat.

It makes sense to have the ipad removable from the mount so theres generic tablet holders which mount to VESA.

You can also just get a stand arm for the tablet.

      • The idea is I move the ipad into a different case when I need it to be mobile, it is probably more of a holder like you mentioned. These mobile device holders that I have tried, have not been nearly as stable as monitor stands. Not that I'm a button smasher who needs it to be heavy duty, just something that doesn't shake in the wind is hard to come by.

You can use any VESA laptop tray, just adjust the angle so that it is perpendicular to your desk. I am using a MagSafe case to have the iPad magnetically attached to the tray, which allows for quick attachment/removal without having to adjust the bracket of the tray. link

There are dedicated hydraulic MagSafe arms for iPad, but they tend to cost significantly more. link

      • MagSafe is a good solution. I need to upgrade mine first. The aliexpress one looks very good, but $$ way over the top lol

        • For your reference, this is what the first option with a VESA laptop tray looks like. img. You won’t need a MagSafe case if you don’t mind adjusting the bracket. With a MagSafe case, the magnet is strong enough to keep it in place without the adjustable sliders. I included the adjustable sliders because I use the mount for both a laptop and an iPad. Not as neat as the aliexpress dedicated arm but cost a lot less and suits my need better.

          • @deliriouss: That is exactly what I'm after; I need one right next to my bed for when I can't get up. My ipad is old, it doesn't have the magnet, this might be the excuse I need for an upgrade :) Thanks for going through the trouble to take the photo, really appreciate it.

@Alley Cat: If your intended use case is to have it next to your bed, the option ATangk recommended is likely more suitable, as you probably want a longer reach than what a monitor arm can provide. My iPad is an older model as well; the iPad case I am using has a built-in magnet strong enough to hold the iPad on the fridge.

I thoguht the North Bayou ones were the standard monitor arm to get and best value.

  • I have the NB F80. I don't like it. It doesn't go high enough to fit the laptop underneath it. Maybe I need to loosed some screws… but It's very rigid and stiff

    • +5

Yeah the whole point of these is you loosen those thumbscrews so you can get the positioning right, then tighten up again just enough so the weight of the monitor doesn't cause it to slump

      • I recall that I tried that but it was either too soft or too stiff. Struggled to find the sweet spot. Maybe I'll try again

        • It was quite finicky for me as well, but I only had to configure it once to counterbalance the exact weight of the monitor and it's been working perfectly for over a year now.

        • Maybe get an expert in if you can't adjust a monitor arm lol

    • That’s why the H80 is better.

Not a deal. Amazon has more than one gas lifted arm around $36-37 pretty much at all time

    • agreed north bayou f80 costs 18aud in taobao

      • shipping is what kills it. Any tips on getting them shipped cheaply?
I've done collection point which is way cheaper than direct but still…

        • +2

I tried too. With cargo shipping by sea & collection point by using taobao web, buying 2 is still cheaper than AU. However, I don’t think its worth the wait.

  • Has anybody set up one of these with a quick release adapter for Dell Ultrasharps? Would love to be able to avoid a screwdriver when taking the monitor off the arm for travel and use with the original dell stand

Are Huanuo any good, or are they guano?

      Bumblebee tuna!

From my research in Taobao, NB closed down, they are not selling any more their product in the site. So finding another quality alternative is good for now.

Any one got suggestions on a single arm for a 34" Ultrawide that won't break the bank?

    • I was looking at one on costco that had dual monitor support and includes one 34" ultrawide and a 27" for example for $169 delivered…

  • I don't know why monitor arms cost so much in AU

  • Anyone got a 49incher (monitor) and has a reliable (monitor) arm for it? Spring on mine recently broke

  • +1

Looking for suggestions for 34” to fit Dell 34 Monitor - S3422DWG

  • How does this compare?

    $1 cheaper https://www.amazon.com.au/Monitor-Adjustable-Computer-2-Grom…

and compare to that MOUNTUP one too

    • I researched this too and Huanuo seems like older and more reputable brand
