Would this be the best value 12mth card atm?

    • +5

I would say so. Haven't seen it any cheaper. It's a great price for 290gb on Telstra over 12 months

    • +1

    • Short answer No, but there's a work around ;)

Like port out to another provider, then port back in?

        • +1

Yes buy a $2 sim, port out and back in again

          • @Aussiebargainer: ive tried to do this but when i resign up as a "new customer" it has me go back to my existing customer and then after i put in alllll the info, it gives me an error message.

            • +4

@oliveju: I honestly buy cheaper starter cards from anywhere for a month ; usually 10 aud or around that price for the month and then gracefully transfer again after the 28 days or the month with another telco. Makes you also appreciate if others are as good as Telstra network in your area.

  • Brought it last week, will have to go back tomorrow get $25 back

    • Same here. Would they give refund if we go back? Or need to return?

      • +4

They have a policy if an item goes on sale after you bought it in the last 30 days, you can go to the refunds counter and get a refund of the difference. You don't need the product.

I recently did this for some luggage.

        • Thanks. I’ll try it tomorrow

        • Thanks for sharing. I’ll try today myself. 🤞

      • Giggidy!!!

  • How do you get the shop cards? Does the cashier issue them or do you have to follow a different process? Keen on getting 3 myself.

    • Once you activate the Boost sim card, the $30 gift card will be emailed to the address linked to the membership. Can't remember how long after activation though.

      • I heard activation was not required for receiving the gift card

        • That's right. Just bought the telstra deal, got the gift card and no need to activate.

Cheers OP, nabbed three myself all in one transaction. Heaps more available at Costco Epping.

    • Yes Porting from Telstra is quiet instant and easy because Boost is on Telstra network

  • Anyone knows when it needs to be activated by ?

    • According to OP - 2nd March 2026. But probably best to check before purchasing. :)

      • think that’s OPs sim expiry date , my sim expires in 2027. I can’t see anywhere it says has to be activated by March 2026. All I was told is you would get the GC once the card is activated.

        • +1

Its printed on the large card in-store. I took a photo but cannot upload. Mentions must be activated by March 2026.

  • Wish they would go back to the lower data cap for cheaper prices. Barely use over 100gb so don't need to pay for 300. Got an Optus Sim through catch for $150 with 200gb.

  • For the SIM churners, do you transfer out on the day before expiry, or on the day?

Even with my 12m plans I churn 1-3 days before in case it goes wrong and I lose my mob number.

    • I do that too eventhough porting is pretty fast on weekdays.

  • Is it availabele in Moorabin store?
