Looking for a Barber in Western Sydney or The City That Actually Cleans Their Equipment

Hey all, I recently went to a barber in the Blacktown area for the first time in a while just got a simple fade but ended up with some red rash and what looks like folliculitis afterwards. Bit of a wake-up call that not all barbers actually clean their tools properly between customers.

Now that I know this stuff should be cleaned and disinfected, I’m hoping to find somewhere that actually takes hygiene seriously.

Can anyone recommend a barber in Western Sydney or even the city where you’ve actually seen them clean or sanitize their scissors, trimmers, razors, etc. between clients?

Thanks in advance just want to avoid dealing with irritated skin again.

I’ve been to various barbers from $10 asian cash joints to $100 joints…. And none of them did lol

    • Yeah I’ve checked out a few in Blacktown and none did, I’m not looking for them to deep clean between clients but maybe just one of those clipper sanitiser sprays after each client? Would only take seconds out of the day

Don't they all dip their scissors in that cylinder of blue liquid? Is that not disinfectant?

Edit: Just found out the blue liquid is called Barbercide and is a disinfectant

    • I mean definitely remember seeing those as a child all the time but haven’t seen any barbers with them recently, don’t know if they can be used on clippers either which are probably more used than scissors now for men’s cuts

      • They don't use those barbicide sanitising jars anymore. They now use a spray disinfectant on clippers and scissors. If they forget/lazy, just ask for it. They all have it available.

      • Yeah, you never see that blue jar anymore

  • I remember about a zillion years ago, our local barber used to keep all their equipment in a UV cabinet….

  • just be the first one there
they usually at least clean aftwr work……

  • I've wondered what happened to barbers and hairdressers using barbercide. Seemed to be the norm when I was a kid

  • "Western Sydney" and "Sterelize equipment"

    pick one.

  • Not Western Sydney but Tommy Guns use barbicide and generally do a pretty good job. One in Maquarie Park and another in the Northern Beaches.
