13% Cashback on Meta Quest Headsets @ TopCashback AU

180

I missed the $419 deal recently
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/929743

This cashback should bring it down to $434.13 which is close enough

https://www.meta.com/au/quest/quest-3/
The Meta Quest 3 should go from $799 to $695.13, as im considering this now

Anyone tried TCB for meta ?

As always, don't forget to accept a Meta referral before turning on and activating the headset to get $47 of Meta game store credit:

  • Quite a few promos, smells like a new device around the corner?

  • When does this last untill? Should I wait for black friday? Would there be stacked discounts and cashbacks on black friday?

    • +2

yeah im waiting on this info as well but historically it doesnt look like there have been any black friday discounts short of them bundling additional things in. this 13% off through cashback seems pretty damn good.

for comparison, you can get a refurbished quest 3 512gb for 650 on ebay via meta or 697 brand new using this cashback method.

Have to agree with Kubrikates, past two years its been increased referral credit but not substantial discount on the Quest 3 (there's probably very thin margins on the hardware) that they recoup by getting you to buy apps on their store.

The other factor is Quest 3 is the most used headset in the latest Steam survey https://www.roadtovr.com/quest-3-becomes-most-used-vr-headse…
so Meta may not feel the need to discount it substantially.

The only hope for reasonable discounts at Black Friday / Cyber Monday would be if retailers are having trouble moving Quest 3 stock i.e. Amazon / JB HIFI

my question though is, how reliable is topcashback? theres some complaints that you have to manually intervene to get them to honor their cash backs and involves lots of taking screenshots when you order.

        • I have seen historical comments from other deal posts that rank TCB as the most reliable for tracking. Shopback cops a lot of flak for denied cashbacks and poor tracking

@3252900sl: sold. gonna get it tomorrow. hope the promotion is still on.

            • @kubrikates: are you going to get any straps?

              • @zzh315: dont think so, should i? i've already dropped 90 bucks on getting stuff for the ethernet cable setup to use virtual desktop.

              • +1

@zzh315: If you plan to be moving around while use the headset, you would want upgraded straps (either third party or Meta ones) as the stock ones get lots of complaints

It sounds like kubrikates might be using it for a seated sim if he's not swapping out the straps?

            • @kubrikates: I bought last night, cashback tracking still not yet displayed, but it has dispatched and estimated to arrive next monday.

              • @zzh315: how long does the cashback take to show up?

              • @zzh315: im still really deliberating on getting one just cause its still 700 bucks but im 90% sure im gonna take the plunge.

                • @kubrikates: Idk, still hasnt show up on topcashback, but they say it can take up to 7 days, I have recorded my screen when I purchased, so I can haggle them later.
yes, it's still $700, but I think it's way worth it than a phone upgrade, I'm still rocking on my refurbished iphonese, dont see any use case for phone upgrades so might as well spend on vr. Plus there's not gonna be any new vr googles coming up in 1 year or 2.

                • @kubrikates: but the main thing im worried about is they do a bigger promotion on black friday XD

                  • +1

@zzh315: I mean, I doubt it. They did a few targeted 10% offs on ebay a few days ago, 13% is looking better than that. Like whats the most they will do? 20% at best? But thats unheard off thus far for the 512GB Q3. Its selling well so the have little reason to discount it so much, but I guess we will see. I am going to JB today to try it on to confirm I like it and then probably buy it tonight.

                    • @kubrikates: didn't know you can try it in JBHifi, might go there and have a test as well.

                      • @zzh315: i was wrong, they did not let me try.

                        • @kubrikates: damn, guessI will just experience when it arrives. I have actaully never tried any types of VR goggle before, my hopes are high tho.

@zzh315: I just bought mine, i am lucky i checked, the cashback expires in 11.5 hours.

                            • @kubrikates: I would say I'm disappointed with the pass through mode, I can barely see anything on my phone or laptop screen when using passthrough mode, but it is better without passthrough mode.

                              • @zzh315: oh yeah thoughts on the quest 3? any good? as impressive as they say? mines coming tomorrow but i am second guessing myself and might get a psvr2

                                • @kubrikates: BTW, my cashback just got tracked, around $90. been busy yesterday and only tried some already installed apps, bit underwhelaming, but I guess PCVR or paid games would be better. The hand tracking is not that accurate and I had to pinch my finger multiple times to get it work, controllers are fine. It's a bit hard to drag the windows and get the angle right. The focus can get blury when the menus window is dragged too close. guess I'm only mentioning the negatives here since I have not yet tried the paid popular games yet. but since I nvr tried any other headsets, I don't know if this is expected. I have read online quest 3 is better than psvr2 tho, and I think if you are doing PCVR, quest 3's lens is supposedly better?

                                  • @zzh315: Yeah that's what I'm afraid of, it's going to be underwhelming. Are you planning on doing any pcvr? I'm getting this mainly for dcs and msfs.

                                    • @kubrikates: yh, I have not researched on pcvr, but I bought a third party linking cable and waiting for it to be shipped. i just installed a shooter game called vail from meta store, and I got super dizzy while moving around. It was ok in other stationary activities.
