Save for longer and go for the pancake lens, worth it.

Pancake Lens = what's on the Oculus 3, rather than 3s. Yeah, I agree, the difference is worth it.
The 3s, uses the same fresnal lens of the Oculus2.

Good reply, I should have included that it is the Quest 3.

In saying that I hope people who purchase a $500+ piece of tech at least do the surface level of research to understand the difference between models.

    • Completely agree on this. Pancake makes a whole lot of difference.

  • Thoughts on new Samsung XR

      expensive

    • Cheaper to buy 2x S25 and strap them to your eyes.

saw 256GB 3S for $500 ish on amazon au before it quickly sold out.

then it was $449 during this deal. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/927831

I heard amazon always the way to go. for returns also.

friend had a weird experience for faulty headset. after buying direct from meta, employees in china asked them to ship the headset to them so they could check and repair/replace, and they would later refund the shipping. not exactly what they expected.

I purchased quest 3 twice from amazon and sent them back because of multiple dead pixels in both. This was within 3 to 4 months of release. Dunno if the quality has improved now. But glad i got them from amazon, they were no questions asked returns. Its very hard to take photos of dead pixels on these to convince meta that dead pixels exists and they need to replace.

Dead pixels are hard to notice, but once you notice where they are, its hard to miss everytime you use it.

  • 256gb was $449 a week ago, I'd hodl for black Friday. 128gb was same price as this deal so could be worth it

Eye strain / fatigue — staring at a screen a few centimetres away for long periods can tire your eye muscles.

Dry eyes — less blinking in VR can dry them out.

Blurred vision or headaches — often from incorrect headset alignment or interpupillary distance (IPD).

Motion sickness (cybersickness) — caused when your eyes sense movement but your body doesn’t.

I see your list of minor medical irritants, and I raise you some more concerning conditions :

Anal leakage is a condition where muscles and nerves around the anus don’t work properly.

Fournier gangrene is a type of necrotizing fasciitis or gangrene affecting the external genitalia or perineum.

Prolapse is a medical condition where an organ slips out of its normal position, often causing it to bulge or protrude. This can occur in various organs, such as the uterus, bladder, or rectum, and is commonly associated with weakened pelvic floor muscles.

I concur, got all these from using VR headset, plus bumworms

Meta really don’t want to give anymore deals on the Quest 3, huh… At this point, I’d even taken a bundled game. Gutted they’re pushing the 3S so hard for the past 12 months and leaving the 3 at full price.

    • +2

      Agreed… waiting and waiting also

As someone who bought Quest 3S, returned it. And got the quest 3.
I can confidently say, it was worth it.

I suggest try the 3s, if you must, but quest 3 is the bare minimum.
