If like me you love Dropbox, have maxed out all your free referral data, and don't want to pay an extortionate amount for terabytes of data check out their partnership with Lenovo which works out at $30/AUD a year for 100GB (goes up to $38 in the second year).

Few caveats:

1 - You will need to enter a US postage address, just pick one from the Google autofill in the address field.
2 - You will need a Lenovo account (although you don't need to own a Lenovo product to sign up).

If the defaults to the UK store, change to the United States at the top. If for whatever reason a payment fails they seem to just cancel your subscription, which is what happened to me today, and you need to re-sub to whatever current offers are available, which caused me to lose my $1.99/month 100GB plan as it seems to be no longer available.

Only get it if you absolutely need it. Edward Snowden called it the worst of all cloud service

    • I keep all the good stuff on a thumb drive under my bed!

  • Thanks OP! Does anyone know of any deals/workaround for Google Storage?

  • FYI, until recently, if you got a link to collaborate in a project with other people, Dropbox will sync EVERYTHING including you personal files. Now you can opt, but the trust has long gone!!!!

    • Can you expand on this? Long time Dropbox user and this sounds terrifying!

I was collaborating with a group of people in an Animation project and they are using Dropbox to sync files. They gave me the project link. I did the same with Google Drive for years and never had ONE problem, so I just assume we will share the "project" link..

No no no, they sync EVERYTHING outside the project link, so my private files (salary slips, medical information etc) ended up on someone else drives.

What kind of genius design this workflow????? They fixed it now (I only know because when I share a project recently they ask me which folder I want to sync), but I no longer believe it.

I was a long time supporter of Dropbox too. Was.

        • That's scary! Not sure I'd even know if this has happened and yeah way too much personal info on there.

  • Still madly expensive especially for a mediocre service.

  • Pricy when you can get the onedrive family subscription for less and includes Office if you need it for some reason.
