  • Maccas can’t afford it here due to declining sales.

    • Not just Australia, globally due to economic slow down.

They can't afford not to do it then.

      • What happened to thw regular 2 bic mac meals $8 during covid? Those were the best value ever

        • Or 20 nuggets + 2 large fries for $8. Deals like those are long gone now. Seems even the discount deals like 20%/25% off over $10, $5 off over $20 may now be out of circulation (which would be a shame as they're useful to use on new items to try).

          • @MiscOzB: One of my accounts have 40% off min $19.95 spend, trying to force a higher spend amount!

            • @Craze: Crazy, i would love the 40% off even 20 to 25% would still be good.

Howd you get the 40% btw?

              • @ATTS: Just those targeted weekly deals that refreshes every few days? It's pretty rare I think this is the second time my account was targeted.

            • @Craze: @ATTS Yeah I spoke too soon, checking my accounts again just now and one has 30% off min $11.95, very nice surprise. It's also separate to the biweekly deal ending today (Monday) giving more time to use - says expires in 3 days.

              • @MiscOzB: Nice! Good for you! I wish i had it lol

I had a double cheeseburger and mc flurry for $5.99, not as good as yours but still a killer cheat meal!

          • @MiscOzB: Oh yes those 25 20% deals w we re very good though

Now im only getting like 5 to 15%

        • What happened to the house prices, rant and electricity prices since covid ? 😉

I'm not surprised they have declining sales. I tried a McChicken recently for the first time in years. It was bad. The patty has become so thin and I'm sure they've reduce the chicken content relative to the fillers. I don't see how they shrinkflate it any further. They'll have to drop it from the menu and replace it with a McChicken Slider instead.

Edit: to the OP's question, no I don't miss it.

lmao. when maccas is now slower and more costly than a local burger place, cafe and have declining quality… It's no wonder they have declining sales, you literally need to use the App to get slightly better deals rather than the goated ones of yesteryear, enshittified to the max.
The only benefit they have is a drive thru

Introducing the new nugget burger! A golden McDonalds chicken nugget with the new 1" burger bun, single shredded piece of lettuce and mayo for just $5.99!

I love my fast food but keeping some frozen burger patties and chips in the freezer is so much easier that going through the drive through these days. Last couple of times I was shoved into the dreaded waiting bay where it took about the same amount of time as just cooking it.

my exact reaction to the chicken nuggets after not going for years, last time was before covid.

I was like WHAT IS THIS. it had the weirdest texture, like they deliberately put "meat" texture (stringyness) in to make it seem more like meat. but the spongy weightlessness and strange flavour tells you it's everything except chicken. fake food.

at this point I think they are just putting a tiny amount ground up chicken bones, with some kind of vegetable mass powder, starch. and deepfrying it that's what it is. 🤣

    Prob for the best tbh

    My arteries are loving it

To be fair I do miss the $1 large fries.

Apologies for sounding like a negative Nancy.

    • +2

      Would a cashback deal help?

    • +2

      *negative Nancy's

    • The best deal was $8 for 2x sml qtr pounder meals.

  • -1

    no

  • -3

No. Why would any one miss being tempted to eat trash synthetic food

    • +1

If they came out with a synthetic food range I would definitely be tempted.

      • It will make the transition to soylent green much more palatable.

@Cashbackau can you do a Maccas cash back?

  • I'm surprised people are looking forward to Nov deal after Monopoly Macca's wrapped up not long ago…

    • +1

Why? Atleast you get decent deals vs never actually winning anything
      Never bothered checking the monopoly

      • I thought the chances of winning food items were decent with Monopoly.

        • +1

Yes with the 1 in 3 chance. I had many sausage mcmuffins.

          • @Clear: Yeah same here. As much as the property cards are way more "valuable" in reality the chances of winning the good stuff are really slim.

I was happy getting lots of mcmuffins and burgers.
