Join Combined Hospital & Extras Insurance & Stay until 17 Dec 2025 for 10 Free Weeks (New Members Only) @ AAMI Health Insurance

790

Join by 3 Nov 2025 with the 10 weeks applied from 17 Dec 2025. Eg. 45 day waiting period which is shorter than the usual 60-90 days.

Seems to be the best deal if you have family cover, a high level of cover, or can’t get the HBF finder deal. Note AAMI is an NIB white label

Full T&Cs at https://www.aami.com.au/health-insurance/oct-nov-terms-25.ht…

If you also cant get this or the HBF deal, GMHBA appears to have a 6 weeks free after 30 days.

  • Damn. Just left them 4 months ago.

Does anybody know if I can take the policy (family cover) under my partners name to bypass their 6 months prior policy holder condition?

Note: I had family cover with them 4 months ago.

Doubt it. Plus it’ll be a pain to argue your case. Better off just signing up with another insurer and coming back to aami when this offer rolls around again in probably March 2026

Clause 7 indicates you can have the start date after November 3, you just need to sign up by November 3. Is that right?

    • +1

Seems so, but it would be risky given the lack of clarity. I didn’t see an option during the web sign up to postpone the policy start date.

      • -1

You're right. I also asked Google's AI which may or may not be correct:

'You can't directly delay the start date of a new AAMI health insurance policy, but you may be able to get a full refund if you cancel within 21 days of the start date, provided no claims have been made.'

Can confirm, just joined today. Policy commences on 26/11/2025, customer support rep(over the phone) confirmed still eligible for 10 week free period (starts 17/12/2025).

    Got 2 questions.

    1. If I am with NIB, can I still get this offer?

    2. What are AAMI's approved channels?

    • +1

No look at the terms 9. c.

  • +1

Why does it say "Offer fulfilled in month 3 of membership."?

I'm trying to figure out if I should use this or the Bupa deal with everyday rewards points.

  • These are normally 6 weeks in year 1 and 4 weeks in year 2. But I only see 10 weeks on Dec 17.

Guess people dont do / claim much from 23rd december… cleverish promo.

    Looks like NIB insurance

    • If you were churning from another insurance, surely will already have used up the limit by this date, which carries over anyway

  • -1

When will the 10 weeks be credited ?

The hbf offer is quite clever. 4weeks now , 4 weeks in a year and another 4 weeks in year three. Churn unfriendly 😁

    • 17th December

      • The terms state that it will be applied by shortening the paid till date. So your yearly membership will end in 46weeks. Has anyone tried this before to vouch on the reduction occurring any earlier?

The terms do not state what you have claimed. They state:

The Offer consists of adjusting the “paid to” date on the qualifying policy to reflect the reduction off the premium payable for an amount equating to 10 weeks (calculated as 70 days) of the annual premium.

Maybe you should've gone to Specsavers?

To be fair, the terms could be worded much more clearly.

          • @YesPleaseThankYou: I could have worded my response clearer. It’s still not a clear 10 weeks off in one go though, just a reduction in premium. Is that right?

            • @rayallenfanau: I think that, at this point, it will only be AAMI that can provide you with the clarity that you're looking for.

What are the hidden cost? Do you have to pay or signin 12 months contract?

  • Just note you'll be excluded from other NIB offers for 6 months including resellers like Qantas Health Insurance. (eg. For those who need Qantas to get Points Club+)

Looking at switching from TFH however looking at the terms do they give 10wks of no payments or do they spread that across the remaining premiums reducing the payment amount? Hoping it is 10 weeks of no payments.

    • 10 weeks no payment

    NIB. No thanks.

  • New to this insurance game, just obtained medibank for the first time- family cover with 6 weeks free and already completed the free period. Like credit card churn can we do insurance churn as well without affecting any of our credit ratings? If i move to aami that will be my 1st change in life. It will atleast help me to go pass 1 year of wait period with maxm discounts. Like medibank availed 6 weeks and now aami 10 weeks free. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
    Tx

      You're a bit mixed up.

      • Credit card churn does affect your credit rating.
      • Health insurance churn does not affect your credit rating.

Why would health insurance churn affect your credit card rating? Where did you read this?

If i move to aami that will be my 1st change in life.

      Sounds boring.

Any advise [sic] would be greatly appreciated.

  • Thanks OP, signed up.

I assume this promo has been out for a month but nobody noticed it and posted it here until the last day. :D

    • Is this a better deal than HBF or is it that people go for it for simplicity in getting the 10 weeks free?

      • I forgot about the HBF one. I think that one is better.

        • Thanks. I wanted to ask if paying via credit card is also direct debit as the HBF website on the payment page says "Which direct debit payment method would you like to use?" and lists both credit card and bank account as an option.

I looked at it weeks ago but took up the Bupa offer instead.

This offer is only good now as it's at the closest point possible prior to the end of the promotion and to when the free weeks vest — otherwise, as with almost all NIB-related promotions, the wait is too long.

In years of churning, I have never found an NIB-related promotion to be worthwhile. This offer might be the one exception.

  • Ooooooof, was signing up tonight before midnight (QLD). Only just saw the offer ended 11pm QLD time sigh… already gone

    • I just got a text saying the offer had been extended for a limited time. Maybe call them up to see if you can still get it. It’s a generic link.

Text was: Hi TDSR, it's Brittany Pulo from ItsMy Group on behalf of AAMI Health Insurance. Our 10 weeks free offer has now been extended for a limited time. If interested, please reply with Y, contact us on 02 4216 7923, or you can book a time here: https://nibbookings.itsmygroup.com.au/#/aami To opt out reply "stop". Eligibility and T&Cs apply

  • Just a heads up that we had applied to switch to AAMI as per this deal.

Medibank, our current provider, then just countered with 12% off the next 12 months.

Might be useful for people who were keen on staying anyway.

    • Medibank, our current provider, then just countered with 12% off the next 12 months.

12% is the maximum discount per annum allowed by law. You could have saved much more by churning.

Might be useful for people who were keen on staying anyway.

Yep, that's the only time such a discount is useful. Churn to achieve true savings.
