    That or this?

    https://amzn.asia/d/7U3QZYu

    N300 Around $31.6 per TB.
I’ve never had Toshiba, that’s why I am asking.

    • +2

Toshiba don't offer any warranty service for their drives - before you buy, make very sure that Amazon US will honour the warranty if the drive dies a few years from now, because that will be your only option.

I need to get one of these, but can’t bring myself to pay so much after getting them for ~$250ea 3-4 years ago on a deal. :(

    • +2

That was insanely cheap, this isn't an amazing price but it's not bad.

I think I paid $510 for my Ironwolf Pro 12TB on a deal around 3 - 4 years ago too.

I paid $720 for a WD NAS Pro 22TB last year new on Amazon AU from USA - these days prices are crazy for HDD,SSDS, NVMES and RAM

    • I only bought 2 at the time for my 4 bay nas. Regretting that massively.

      • Yeah, i didn’t expect to fill the three i bought so quickly haha. Oh well.

        • With?

          • +1

@cobknob: Ended up with 24TB after putting them in RAID, and filled it up with Linux ISO's.

It looks like the Ironwolf Pro is the same price, if you're after one of those also.

Enterprise drives are on sale at MSY. $439 for 12TB exos drives.

    https://www.msy.com.au/product/seagate-exos-x18-12tb-7200rpm…

    • Oh should I grab these over WD Purples/Skyhawk as NVR drive? Tempting

      • based on what I've seen on forum's, NVR drives aren't really worth the extra cost for home use. unless you have a considerable amount of cameras.

Worth waiting for potential black Friday sales? Reckon they go any lower?

    • Yes. That's why I'm waiting. Well this or another brand/model.

Apparently there were a couple of articles saying that RAM and Storage are now on the high priced side due A.I. Literally after covid RAM and Storage were the cheapest… Feelsbad.

    • would imagine they would be using ssds (nvme) or worst case 2.5 for AI, not spinning rust?

      • Spinning disks are still best value for large volumes of data, I would hazard a guess that they would use a tiered storage system - nVME/SAS SSDs for fast storage, then HDs for nearline storage

its hard to believe they are still asking these prices for legacy technology.

    • yes, but no, hardly legacy when drives over 8TB - or realistically 4TB are so out of reach, i liken it to to ICE vs electric cars, you could say ICE is legacy yet they still go for quite a bit… maybe in the future.

    • as technology becomes more legacy, when demand still exists it becomes more niche and niche is more expensive

Having purchased a few drives from Amazon, you'll probably get it barebones in the box with little to no support. Good luck!!

  • this or wd red?

  • I got 16TB for >$400 each a month ago.

    • which brand, where, was it just barracuda's as they usually go for around the 400 mark.

  • +1

$35/TB is crap though I thought

  • Would these drives be cheaper on Black Friday usually?
