Air Conditioner Install Prices

Getting a quote for a ~7kw split system install in country NSW.

Got three quotes, 2 are 4.5k and 1 is 4k. I was expecting to be quoted in the low to middle 3's.

All for install of a 7.1kw Mitsubishi unit. It's not back to back exactly, so I figure there's a few hundred bucks extra in that.

Is the market is telling me I'm naive? Wanted some confirmation of what others have got price wise. Should I consider other brand perhaps? Daikin, Fujitsu?

    Install only?? That's crazy.
    Single/double story?

    • Unit & Install. Single story.

  • $1500 max

I paid about $3200 for a Mitsubishi Electric AP60 (6kw) supplied and installed in Blayney/Orange back in August, every other installer in the area only wanted to quote me for a Daiken which was $3600-3900.
it was a replacement and mine wasn’t back to back but they just moved the compressor so now it is.

So I wouldn’t say your quote is unreasonable but still more than it should probably cost

      Helpful insight thank you

  • Brisbane MHI 7.1kW $1700 + $550 install
Of course country areas, transport cost will need to be factored in

I got a 7kw Mitsubishi installed for $3,900 a year or so ago.
After rebates, it was about $3,700

Edit: I should add I got it wall mounted and they took away the broken one. These things add to the price.

    • Scrap collectors will pay you to take the old one away.

      • Sorry, I meant they disconnected it, took it off the roof, patched the hole and then took it away. So that was $300.

your installing in spring so demand is higher. Next time do it in autumn or early winter to get it cheaper.

  • paid $1600 in Bendigo region for a 7.2 Fujitsu roof install, was a fair distance from the wall as it was interior. less than 12 months ago

It comes down to the price of the unit, a 7.1kw Mitsubishi is ~$2k, so that means they are allowing ~$2k for the install.

So $4k for supply and install for a install that isn't back to back is a bit pricy, but not unexpected in the country areas. You always pay more in the country compared to he city.

I assume you are getting a new power circuit ran as part of this install as required for this sized unit.

  • Sounds reasonable for country.
    Get an evaporative system
    leave all windows open
just get the largest one they make

  • Expensive, but if you're in the country then you might be paying more for travel time.
