  • Not received with Qantas Ultimate.

Got 2 Bonus Qantas Points per AU$1 offer on my Qantas Ultimate. Basically pay 3% fee to buy 2 Qantas Points per $1.

  • Got it on my Amex Explorer, probably won’t activate cos I hate fx fees

    • +3

They advertise this Explorer card as a travel card, so it shouldn’t have any fx fees at all.

And get slugged with 3% conversion rate, best bargains ever.

    • +1

Agreed.. not sure it is worth it with the conversion charges.

    • +2

Not worth it with conversion rate and also amex points have devalued over the years.

    • +4

+1 terrible conversion rate, but it seems people don't realise you’re simply better off saving your money rather than stacking points. And that's how these companies get you to spend more.

  • Yeah their FX fee is terrible but at least this offsets it a bit, making it more palatable. Could be useful if you have to use your Amex for some reason, e.g. to get the rental car insurance if you have a Platinum Charge card.

  • Got 2 Bonus Qantas Points per AU$1 offer on my Qantas Business Rewards, up to 20k bonus points. Considering the going rate for Qantas Points is 1.4c/point, this isn't too bad a deal. It's almost the same as 'buying' points through pay.com.au etc - these points only pay off when you get premium economy or better flights.
