Filament Changer Controversy

Yes, there's some doubt on what's happening with the promised filament changer. The CC 2 has been shown in China with an AMS Lite/AD5X style changer but if you don't need that, this is a solid printer.

Enclosed CoreXY Alternatives
  • Bambu P1S
  • Bambu P2S
  • Anycubic Kobra S1

General consensus is its still a good printer. I refuse to however buy their printers on the basis they massively inflated their prices for the Australian market. Blatant price gouging.

Yes, at the $699 price, it's way inflated. At $566 it's closer to the $299 USD (+ GST etc).

I suspect they have some agreements in place to protect local reseller's margins.

I think the US price is what's too low, although the AU RRP is also too high. Around $600 is the right price point, given the capabilities are pretty close to the X1C, but it doesn't have all the software advantages of Bambu, and there's no AMS.

        • all the prices outside of america are inflated to offset tariffs

        • You can go full maker and DIY an AMS, but it's not idea (turtle AMS is supposed to be the go to). The Python AMS for Bambu printers definitely looks like a better DIY option (although it uses the parts from a stock AMS, it expands the functionality greatly).

Carbon 2 thats advertised in china looks more like a V1 with an UGLY AMS attached to the top, so hopefully they release a stand alone AMS for this at some point

The Centauri Carbon 2 is already available in China. Its possible thats coming to the rest of the world at some point, if youd prefer the improvements made with that.

This really should be more like the starting retail price considering that this printer is supposed to be competitive with or cheaper than a Bambu A1 in other regions. (Regularly goes for $466 CAD in Canada for example).

At this price range I'd rather get the A1 for $399 (or mini for less) atm for an entry-level/baby's first printer where abs, engineering filaments and tall-thin objects won't be printed.

Or I'd look towards the Qidi Q1 Pro for $609 atm (but Qidi is currently on Halloween sales so there's potential to go lower when they switch to Black Friday sale). Where you'd get higher max temps on the nozzle and bed + active chamber heating.

Also from what I've seen, the Centauri Carbon seems to have one of the worse nozzle change systems among modern 3d printers where you have the risk of breaking small cables when you unplug them which you'd then need to go out and buy a whole new hotend assembly to replace.

It's a shame since if it was more reasonably priced from the start then it would be a no brainer over the competition.

  • Im trying to save for the P1S before the sale ends

    • The sale wont end for P1S,

I reckon Qidi Q2's a pretty good alternative too, first printer with air filtration certification etc and prints pretty well.

    • +1

Yep Qidi Q2 is a good option as well, and qidi box started shipping too

  • Using SWMBO email as a new signup, after using the hello10 code I get to the payment details and get this error (UNKNOWN_ERROR) Failed to generate Pay Request.

    • try different browser?

      • Yep, tried phone and pc, chrome edge and firefox. Only thing that changes is if incognito then the code says invalid.

        • did you sign in to use the code

          could just try it instore

          • @3dprintdeals: I've been having the same issue. I was trying to place an order for the Saturn Ultra 4 all last night and this morning, except every time at checkout, I got the same error code. I tried on my PC or Phone & multiple browsers, all the same result… Now it shows as "Invalid Code" and doesn't work at all… Kinda disappointed. Didn't get a chance to go in-store to try it physically, not sure I want to bother now..

  • Its a shame that multiple gift cards or dplit payment cant be used it would net an extra 5% off.

On the AMS system, jaycar have a link to a statement from Elegoo saying its still in development.

    • What about in store?

      • +1

I have no idea sorry, but you would be better to use the 10% off code and click and collect anyway. The code even worked on my existing account.

  • Elegoo has this deal on their website and are offering 10% off for new members/ sign up.

  • The email validation now mentions that Elegoo products are excluded. No more extra 10%.

The deal is still available direct from Elegoo though
