  • Wow cost more than my washing machine. I will stick to my temu solar power dryer (clothes line)

Heat pump dryers typically cost more than their equiv. washer variants.

Our vented dryer died just last week, so this is good timing. Been wanting to try out a heat pump dryer for a while now.

      • Why do they require well ventilated space? They require less from what I read, its one of the main benefits

      • +1

A heat pump dryer usually dries at a lower temp and ventilated space is not as critical when compared to a vented dryer…

I've head both and I'd go heat pump for sure if you can afford it. More energy efficient, don't need to deal with venting/condensation (moisture is collected into a tank or plumbed to to waste water) and the laundry doesn't feel like it's been roasted.

are you sure you weren't reading the cons of a vented dryer… because your list is like the exact opposite of a heat pump

      • +1

Heat Pump dryers dry clothing at lower temps about 30-60, which is lower than vented which uses 70-80. I have a heat pump dryer and use to have vented, the heat pump does not require ventilated space as it is a closed system. Heat pump is way more efficient and dries much better than vented in my opinion. Heat pump may be more expensive but worth the price.

        -Dries clothing at higher temperatures
        Wrong.
        -Requires well ventilated space
        Wrong.
        -Heavier
        Correct, significantly heavier.

  • Heat pumps are definitely the go! higher upfront cost, but the cost of running them is way way wayyyyyy less overtime. They are bloody brilliant. They dont dry at higher temps, they dry at the same temps but use FAR less energy. No doubt this machine will have a setting for how hot/long/type of clothes you want to dry.

Heat pumps are far superior to standard driers. Worth every damn cent.

Does this one spin in both directions so your clothes don't ball up? I read that was a thing.

    • The Haier model does this, but it doesn't help much for bed sheets. I have noticed it does work semi-well for clothing.

  • +1

Does this one have a sensor which cuts drying times down automatically? Have that on current dryer which is annoying when doing mixed loads (I.e senses gym shorts are dry but cotton towels aren't).

  • Anyone tried price matching with JB or TGG

  • If you've got access to Samsung EPP, they had some really cheap pricing on dryers recently. Sorry, I can't check to provide full details right now.

Edit: e.g. 9kg Smart Heat Pump Dryer - DV90DGC4A0AE for $999 (save $700). I don't have time to compare specs sorry, just putting the message out there.
