I’ve said it here many times before. Please strongly consider buying baby items secondhand off FB marketplace. You’ll save a ton of money!

    • There's so much of it too, because so many people buy new and then it's no longer needed in just 6, 12, 18 months.

    • I had no luck finding the Onix on marketplace, and of the like 40 bloody prams we've been playing with it is the only one my wife has been confident with the folding mechanism and the weight. There's plenty we're getting from friends and second hand but unfortunately this was just not one of them

Apologies. I'll make sure I come and ask your advice and opinions on the things I purchase for my family next time.

"Hey babe, I know you're stressed out and dealing with pregnancy and finally found a pram that makes you happy and you don't have to stress yourself further getting used to something new whilst you know being sleep deprived with a new baby, but some virgin on the internet thinks he knows you better than you do based on some arbitrary virtue signalling. So I'm going to go buy a random pram on marketplace instead."

@ONEMariachi: Onix, aeron and skip3 are newer models and don't typically appear on FB marketplace yet either. 20% is quite good considering redsbaby don't go on sale except for a (very!) brief outlet sale for box damage and new parents basically have a six month window to buy things…. Good on you for supporting your partner :)

@berrycrush: We went to the one fine baby expo recently specifically to compare the Skip3 and Bugaboo Butterfly 2. Though we bought the Butterfly 2, we were blown away by how good the Aeron was, but also how flimsy the Skip3 felt. Really need to try these things in person and if you’ve done so and found that one model meets your needs and suits you then 100% that’s the one for you.

Complete nonsense to say that they’re all the same!

          • @ONEMariachi: Not sure why you took so much offence. I'm genuinely sorry for upsetting you, but I have no idea what I said to trigger you that much. This is literally a forum about finding good deals, and there are tonnes of discussions about predatory marketing practices to get people to buy more expensive stuff that doesn't devolve into slinging insults.

but some virgin on the internet thinks he knows you better than you do based on some arbitrary virtue signalling

I never attacked you personally, I was literally just saying "you probably could have saved a bit of money".

So it's "arbitrary virtue signalling" to try and find better value products? I'm certainly not the first nor the last to suggest that there's a crazy amount of marketing spend on baby products, and that there are usually very good value items at the fraction of the cost of the more "premium" items.

Is it also "arbitrary virtue signalling" to recommend someone purchase a Toyota Camry instead of a BMW, or a MacBook Air instead of a MacBook Pro?

FWIW, I'm glad that you're happy with your pram, but your reaction is literally almost like religious fervour. It's the exact reaction that the huge amounts of marketing spent on baby products are trying to elicit - people make decisions based on emotions as opposed to any sort of value analysis.

            • @p1 ama: Come on mate. Let's not play daft now. You're trying so hard to show how smart you are and now you want to pretend you don't understand why I responded back at you like I did and several people have downvoted you?

You implied I made my decision based on confirmation bias and marketing. I gave you clear reasons and you're telling me that I made those reasons up because I fell for advertising. You don't know a thing about me. You don't know how much effort I put into the purchases I make. You don't know the countless hours I put into every single financial decision I make, the spreadsheets I build the effort I go through going to friends and looking into my products and instead reduced me down to dumb dumb that falls for ad. If you knew me and spoke to a single one of my friends they would all laugh in your face if they saw this response you made.
So yeah (profanity) you. You're a garbage person, and the irony of you trying to say I'm speaking in religious fervour when you jumped to conclusions and made statements based on zero evidence is far more closer to religious behaviour than anything I have done.

So step back. Use some introspection to actually look at how you write. Grow up and take responsibility for your terrible actions. You should be ashamed of yourself. but you won't be. You'll come back and double down and pretend you're the victim here again. It's very predictable.

It just sounds like you woke up on the wrong side of bed. I'm curious if you talk to people like this in the real world, or do you just enjoy being hyper-aggressive on the internet? I'm surprised someone agreed to have a kid with you. Maybe they didn't agree, who knows.

You implied I made my decision based on confirmation bias and marketing.

No, I'm not implying that you specifically did. I said that people in general tend to make decisions based on confirmation bias and marketing.

If you knew me and spoke to a single one of my friends they would all laugh in your face if they saw this response you made.

                You have friends?

I'm hardly pretending to be a victim - I don't think either of us are victims, so you can drop that idea.

I do find it slightly amusing that you're acting like someone banged your wife. Maybe you're compensating for past trauma, who knows. The pram isn't so expensive when you have nothing else to offer, I suppose.

                • @p1 ama: god you're boring. Double down again. You can do it, I believe in you.

    • Tbh there is a lot of stigmata in using those for babies. Pram makes sense but clothes not sure sure. I would buy however

Whuch travel one is the bestz light and portable,? Allowed by every airline?

    • -1

When I went to the trial day for them they said the Skip 3 is allowed on all planes. It folds up quite small. My backpack I always carry on everywhere was virtually the same size. Friends have the 2 and just went around Europe and had no issues with it as carry on.

    • +1

      Babyzen Yoyo

    • No problem with airlines is Yoyo one. Just mention it's yo yo and carry on no problems

Other prams can be brought on other airlines but may need to be checked in at counter

If you say it's carry on suitable, some are strict and measure

Found with SQ you can bring a bit bigger bulky one (tested with Safe-n-Sound Move EZ which doesn't fold all the way as compact as yoyo, marketplace find for $30) and check in after gate so no need to worry about additional baggage costs - they'll wrap up the pram in plastic bag and store for you then bring it back out when you exit the plane.
