    $249 at checkout for me

    • +2

Scroll down there is a 60% off button

      • I don’t have it

        • It shows as 249 for me but at the checkout it applies the discount.

I do have the targeted discount, it's a little below the add to cart button in my app

    • +1

Promotion didn't apply to me yesterday, so I placed it on my wish list.

I woke up this morning and I can now get it for $75

      • Thanks. Have wish listed it this morning. Will see if it works tomorrow.

  • +46

Picked 2 up when the last pricing error or whatever it was for $49. Personally would not recommend at all.

Server is always down and live view pretty much almost never works. Router, distance from the hub etc isn't to be blamed as everything is with 10-20m with great range and 1gbps plan.

    • Did you return it and get full refund?

      • Yeah labels here, going to return this weekend

    • +1

I got it too. Live view works okay for me though I'm using the USB thumb drive storage. Mine is going through a couple brick walls down into the garage. It is overly sensitive by detecting vehicles and people walking past the edge of the garage door and I haven't seen a way to adjust the sensitivity.

      • +4

You can adjust the sensitivity, the click on the 3 dots next to the motion toggle and it bring you to the settings.

        • thanks! found it

          • +1

@Caped Baldy: i think you can also block off areas where you do not want it to trigger the motion detection.

    • Working fine for me. No Problems at all.

    • Cant they work locally with a cloud sever?

      • Yeah, works with a USB drive.

        • +3

Do u need an account with blink for it to work?

Motion detection requires sub. I rather save the $ for 1 better cam than 3 shit cams.

          • @ShadowSaver:

Do u need an account with blink for it to work?

Do you mean a normal account or the paid account? My complimentary premium sub has 15 days to go.

From memory, the motion detection will still work with the USB local storage.

            • +1

@Caped Baldy: Does motion detection work without an account?

              • @ShadowSaver: Yes, but it's restricted to any motion. i.e dog will set it off. Subscription version has extra settings for car, person etc.

    • For so many years, Amazon just doesn't bother to care about user experience in many of there products that requires continuing server support.

  • +1

Works for me says 60% off , but is it good? I have eufy cameras currently in use, it's been 6 years, thinking upgrade.

    • Don't! Youll be very disappointed. See my comments above.

Personally prefer eufy, to link etc their servers are much better

      • In general, I am happy with eufy. Haven't see any bargain for their newer cameras. Maybe I will wait.

        • they had a deal in the last few weeks. i just missed out on them.

    • 10% extra hidding somewhere making it 70% off. Not too bad for the price if you are fine with the subscription. Without subscription, it would become a sensor and remote streamer. Some other times the app is loading forever. It was good for the first free month of premium.

  • Thanks OP!

Probably targeted, but the offer showed up for me, so went ahead and bought one.

Already have 2 set up and pretty happy with them after a year (no subscription), so another 3 will mean I can cover more areas now.

    • just using the usb thing aye

      • Yeah, bought a 128GB USB drive, but with 5 cameras now, I might need to bump it up.

    • No subscription? Do you use the local sync module? Boo they got me with the purchase of the module too lol

      • Yep, no subscription. As above, I've plugged in a USB drive into the sync module that keeps all the clips.

  • Bought it thanks

  • I’m happy enough with the ones I got last year so a few more to cover more of the yard is worth the $75. Thanks OP.

    • nice!

      I'll try em

  • bought it thanks

  • i'm under the impression that Amazon dedicates the weakest of servers to provide the cloud connectivity to these cameras

Even the setup process was a bit finicky, I had to power cycle the cameras about 6 times to get them to register to the sync module.

    • Once setup, are they okay / usable? Are you happy with yours?

  • not very good at night, day time is pretty good imo

  • Is an USB flash drive attached to Sync Module or cameras?

    • +2

The Sync module has a full size USB port for storage. The cameras have a USB-Type C port which you can use to provide power to the camera. It won't charge the batteries inside it though.

      • so it's possible to just use type c w these and no batteries ?

        • Yes, the batteries can be left out, if you don't mind plugging in a cable

  • I can see this offer in my Amazon account, but I’ll wait for the Black Friday deals to see if they offer anything better.

  • +1

i got additional $10 off somehow. so paid $65

  • I'll give it a go - for $75 you can't be expecting CIA level of detection with all the bells and whistles.

    • me too,

let me know how it goes!

  • +4

    These are basically abadonware.

Only reason Amazon bought the company was to stop them competing.

    • +1

Probably a stupid question, but is there no way to just jailbreak these and have your own server set up for them using maybe a mini pc or something?

      • No, these need to contact mothership (Amazon / Blink) to work. There is no known hacked firmware available. Also, you generally need a mobile app to use these (you want to be able to look at the footage while you are away and get notifications).

        • I guess the point would be jailbreak to remove that "requirement" and allow it to speak to other similar software that you can self host.
But I wouldn't put it past amazon to have hardware that prevents it.

          • @Knowledge: No ONVIF support. All smarter detections are done on the cloud. Intentionally unoptimised retrieval of video footage from local storage when accessed via cloud.

No firmware source code and how do you even get a copy of the firmware? The time and effort required to do it is so much, you might as well just buy something that doesn't require subscriptions.

            • @netsurfer: I think most battery powered cam won’t support ONVIF anyway as it is not designed for continuous streaming?

              • @littlesoldier: Okay, since it is battery operated, it wouldn't support ONVIF. It is possible to connect Blink Outdoor 4 to USB-C power, but I seem to recall there is still some restrictions.

Anyway, can't think of any consumer grade surveillance cameras with custom firmware. It's basically $20 per camera (just to make maths easier, I assume the hub is worth $15) and battery operated, so they are most suited on areas which don't have a lot of movements. Otherwise, play around with them, and if unhappy about them, return them within the Amazon full refund return period.

  • does it work without sync module / without a subscription plan ?

    • I think it comes with a sync module so it can save onto a USB stick if you do not have a subscription, so it can work without a subscription. With subscription, you get "smart" alerts and saving to the cloud.

      • Ohhhh i just purchased the unit and didn't realise they had a sync unit?? Cancelled. Thanks

  • Grabbed some - for $75 at 3 cameras, it's not too bad

  • 249 for me

    • Add to the cart and go to checkout to see the discounted price

  • can anyone give feedback on how these work without a sub? crazy cheap but might just go reolink or TP Link doorbell, no need to subscribe…

    • +1

Without a subscription, it is slower to view saved videos. I think the app has to upload the video from your usb drive in the sync module to the cloud before you can view it. Live view still works fine.

      • Can thise be used with like homeserver camera software or home assistant or smth

  • i got the offer as well, bought :) thanks

  • bought it, thanks OP

Why is the subscription $150 a year on these $75 cameras?

    • +8

why is an ink refill cost $50 and you have to buy 5 of them on a $99 printer?

  • +1

Are most camera's these day subscription based? I have google doorbell and I find only 3 hours of recording not that useful.

Any good non subs cameras that can automatically record to a SD card and keep overriding old event videos?

    • I have the reolink POE doorbell and I'm happy with it.

I also have one of their bullet cams and it's the same. Just SD card with POE

      • I'm planning to buy the reolink

how hard is it to wire w poe?

did u drill a hole somewhere for the poe?

  • Whoa… this drops to $50.10 in my cart because I have a blink subscription.

  • say if i add this to the gate— how far is the range to the wifi?

  • Bought, thanks OP.

Do I need an extra module or does it come with it and I just need a USB to store it locally?

    • No, it should come with a module and yes just plug in a USB to store locally.

  • excellent deal. They are usually $75 and $50 (on sale) each?

  • +1

    don't have it

  • +1

Thanks OP!! Any camera is better than no cameras.

    • Possibly a bait to the ecosystem and subscription for beginners aware. Good sensors and simple good tho.

  • So my business amazon account had a further $20 off, no idea why! But $55 is a steal

  • I bought 2 pack from previous deal and returned them. Video quality is very poor, too slow.

  • +1

After reading through, i removed from my cart.

    • (profanity) I'll try it lol

      • Pray for u :)

  • Is it too much to have more than 10 cameras around the home? But still I hate not having subscription with these like using a phone without an internet. Good deal.

    • Potential stacking with 15% cashback as no code used ;)

      • Able to order again for the same price

  • -6

Can't endorse one of these products that requires a subscription

      • Well this is what I read online. Is it true? Seems to be from the rest of the comments
        https://www.reddit.com/r/blinkcameras/comments/yvqzz6/the_tr…

          • -1

@Knowledge: My issue doesn't come from the subscription itself, but the lack of the ability to set up porting for your own server, this only happens cause they are losing money on the cameras, they require the monthly income from the subscription for their business model and company's such as that have a terrible track record with data security and privacy.

            • @Tristan3344: If the device is designed to be running on battery isn’t it not supposed to support continuous streaming anyway? I got a few Reolink cam which are also battery powered, and it doesn’t support RSTP or ONVIF because of the same reason, the footages are saved to the micro SD card instead though, while this blind outdoor 4 can saved to USB storage via the sync module which is included in the package

              • +3

@littlesoldier: Based on the info in reddit, there seems to be some limitations Blink put in to entice people to go for subscription. That reddit is from 3 years ago so I don't know whether Blink improved these or not:

                • Even with the local storage, the app doesn't let you filter by camera on the video files.
                • Random filenames means you need to use the rather limited app (intentionally made that way). Doesn't look like you can easily go to a certain date and time easily (which I assume you can with a subscription for cloud storage).
                • Without subscription, when you are watching the camera live, recording to local storage is stopped.
                • Without subscription, clicking on notification doesn't send you to that event, instead, it goes to the live view.
                • Syncing issue to local storage (apparently some users feel it gets worse without subscription).

These limitations don't just apply to Outdoor 4, they apply to Blink 2 (which is wired). It's good to know those limitations so people can have realistic expectations.

  • These are good cameras. One of the most responsive to movement eg can capture mice and insects. However i have an old account so not payment required.

  • You can get pseudo RTSP support

    https://github.com/roger-/blinkbridge

Still doesn't seem like it is worth the hassle given the compromises. Get a cheap Jooan PTZ camera from Temu for around $10-12 each and get native ONVIF support

  • $50.10 for 3 cameras is a steal! Thanks to my existing subscription of one camera.

    • How? I subscribed too but don’t see the discount in cart

  • Doea it really last 2 years on battery

    • Nah it depends on a few factors such as sensitivity, length of recording, and many more. the more it records the more battery drain basically. Could be 3 months if used generously or a busy area. Else, 6-8 months but that's gonna be a stretch.

  • +2

Been using these for a couple of years now. From a price/performance perspective they're good enough (when you buy them on sale like this). Like others said video quality is basic. Batteries last about a yearish for me. Local storage has been good so no subscriptions. The ability to install these anywhere has been great without needing for an outlet. Couple of things to note - make sure you have good wifi coverage wherever you mount them.
