Rep, give us more info on how this cashback works?

Is the 10% paid back monthly or is it a lumpsum? How long do you need to remain with Frank to receive the cashback?

Edit: Also, how do you vary the level of cover offered? Eg: If I want to get 80% back instead of 50%?

    • Cash back… so no matter where you live, they show up and give you cold hard cash. Coins and notes.
      Or… they may mail it.

Or… they should rename it to something like an EFT refund.

  • Hi RandomNinja

    1) It's paid out as a lump sum
    2) Right after the cooling-off period set by Frank, which is 30 days.
    3) The exact cash-back amount is listed under each Frank policy.

In addition, we're all about transparency on our commissions.

For more information, check out our FAQ page at http://www.betterbills.com/faqs

    • Hmmm, ok so it's basically commission sharing, which in turn is somewhat like a referral system, except what you're offering is significantly better.

Like the site, would be good to see more suppliers included down the track!

Edit: The OB in me needs to ask - what's to stop people from double dipping by switching health insurers again after they've received the cashback?

      • Hi RandomNinja

Thanks, we are talking to all the health funds and just in the process of adding more health funds who will be offering cashback in the next few months. We are trying to be transparent about the commissions that are paid to all comparison sites. We do our bit my making it simple to compare and you do your bit by using the service, and we both get to share the commission (50/50).

In answer to the double dipping question, we will only let you claim twice in any 18 month period. This will prevent people switching for sake of it, but it will allow you to switch if your circumstances change such as you decide to get married or start a family. :)

  • "If I look elsewhere will I find a cheaper health insurance policy?

No - we’re so confident that you won’t find cheaper private health insurance, we give you a cash guarantee. As we’re the only site that gives you cash back on top of the best price, you won’t find a cheaper health insurance policy elsewhere!

If we’ve stuffed up and you do find a cheaper health insurance policy after you’ve purchased through Better Bills (not including the cash back we give you), we guarantee to pay you the difference in cash into your bank account."

Sorry… but this is a statement which is just too ridiculous. Private health insurance isn't JUST about how much you pay… but how much you get covered for.

Oh rep, bit of a hint, the link near the bottom on http://www.betterbills.com/about is dead.

    • Thanks mbroere

      We've fixed that broken link.

    • This post seems to have caused some confusion.

First we compare more funds than we sell (not everything is for sale yet, but we are working on it!) But this means you can hopefully find your own plan and compare it against the others for sale on the site.
If we do sell a plan we split anything we make with you.
Health fund premiums are regulated by the government - this means if you buy your policy through BetterBills then you will pay the same as going to the health fund direct plus we offer half our sales commission in cash back.

      • If we buy through your website, are we also eligible for any offers that the health fund may be offering? For example, first month frees or no waiting periods, etc

        • I take out health insurance to help get rid of the poos, don't want my insurance company giving poo anything free ;-)

        • Hi. Yes the offers depend on the health fund. Just as the amount of cash back depends on how much the health fund wants to pay.

You will see the current offer available from Frank Health Insurance- no waiting periods on any extras when you buy any combined hospital and extras policy.

If you are new to health insurance this is a great offer as there is normally a 6 month wait for optical and a 12 month wait for major dental work.

There are more offers and cash back from other health funds coming soon :)

  • So would it be possible to do the following…
Take cover out for one month (30 days), get cashback then cancel policy?
The cashback amounts seem to be greater than one months cover

    • Hi Al2011

Thanks for checking out the site. Sorry that's not possible.

We only pay you once we have been paid by the health fund. We get paid at the end of the month after you complete your 30 day cooling off period.

We will also only let you switch twice in any 18 month period. This allows for people who are genuinely switching because their circumstances have changed, maybe starting a family? It's not about driving more churn. This is meant to be in the interests all of us :)
