  • very good deal. add a 30mm prime for portraiture and low light and you can enjoy it for two or even three years. then give it to one of your young siblings, and get something more advanced. imho.

  • Seems to be it's standard price, with the 15% off cameras sale getting it to $379 and the 10% off cameras sales bringing it to $401. Might be worth waiting for one of those 10% or 15% blanket sales. Unless the "bonus" lens is a time sensitive thing? Their website doesn't seem to say much about it.

  • I'm assuming it comes with the 20-50mm lens. Not much of a deal otherwise.

  • This deal is OK. For comparison, I bought this from Amazon UK last month for about $400 with the 20-50mm lens and I got a Galaxy Tab 2 8GB WIFI included for free as part of their promotion (about $200 value). I sold the tablet and so I paid about half for the camera :) I didn't post the deal here on OZBargain as it the stock had finished after completing my purchase.

Also note that it's hard to find stores that stock Samsung prime lenses.

  • Stay away from Samsung cameras, there are much better cameras out there to be had for the same price - here is an extract from a review:

"The NX1000 did struggle in some key areas, namely in color accuracy and white balance. We found the custom white balance was acceptable, but the automatic white balance system was inconsistent and slightly off in many of our sample shots. These can be overcome by shooting RAW images, but that will also bog down the system. With the camera practically shutting down while it processes images, that can degrade performance severely."

  • I think, as with anything these "smart cameras" will get better, this is essentially generation-1. Wait for Gen-2. Samsung will iron out the bugs and produce a beast of a camera the second time around I think.

Not saying this isn't good, I was VERY tempted to buy it but I think my Sony HX9V is still superior. The next Gen camera I'm sure will be different.

  • Now now, keep personal brand preferences to just that, personal. I too wouldn't buy this, there's just too many better brand, model, performance cameras out there even at this price.

Having said that, for anyone looking for this model, it is a bargain.

  • Thanks. Today I bought 2 from Parramatta JB HIFI. $442 for each including a free 16GB class 10 SD CARD.
