  • I wonder if they price match another Dicksmith ?

  • Does it come with $10 credit like the previous Telstra $99 deal?

  • Can you give us the exact model number? There are a few variations.

  • I can see E7401 but… thats not coming up on the dicksmith webpage

  • Is that the Defy or Defy+? The Defy is the older, slower version. The Telstra deal was the Defy+.

    • +2

I assume this is only Defy, as it says android 2.2. Defy+ started at 2.3
Of course maybe whoever wrote the ticket has no idea

      • +2

I have the Defy+ and it's slow as well. Would not recommend this.

        • custom rom can solve that

        • +1

Which rom is that? I've got one with CM9 and it's quite slow. I assume the only recourse is to downgrade to CM7?

        • +1

It's not CM10 I can tell you that.
I've just given up and bought the Nexus 4

        • yeap CM7 or smth esle…don't remember the name, some lite rom,saw it on xda delelopers I guess

        • A friend got a Defy+ and is willing to pay someone to help put a new ROM on it. PM us if interested.

        • +2

I had issues with CM9 and 10, lag, connection issues, freezing, random reboots I tried the updated roms but to no avail, eventually i went back to CM7 with the white rabbit rom on xda and seriously it's much better with the downgrade it's faster, more stable and the battery life last's a lot longer. I say give it a go :)

      • Agreed, comparison of the Defy vs Defy+ indicates nearly identical with the exception of the OS version and slightly faster CPU in the Defy+

        • Defy+ is the exact same phone as a 'red lens' Defy (google if you don't understand the significance of this) with an overclocked processor. You'd be crazy not to run a custom ROM on these, they are much better for it.

  • This one is a defy you can see the band around the phone is grey not black like the defy+ i bougt from telstra

Im gonna be heart broken if ive posted another lame deal. But my picture does show only defy and not defy+
Feel free to delete if useless bargain mods

    • +13

      no no
      At least you're contributing!

    • Nah man good work, Its not as good as the defy plus but its still a good deal none the less. I would probably edit the info and remove the correlation to Telstra's defy+ as they are different phones.

These phones go alright once updated to ICS or JB. It's sometimes a long process to root them.

I would also recommend this phone…to nobody at all lol, I had the Defy+ for two months and it broke, they said it was water damaged which seems like a massive cop out because it's marketed as water resistant and I never tested that claim.

    • Were the USB and earphone plugs always in?

      • lol of course!

        • +1

Well.. I have one and have not had a problem like that, like many people here. I wouldn't not recommend a phone based on one report. You might just have been unlucky. It can happen with any brand.

Consider it a warning then, if you read around, the Defy series aren't short of issues.

    • it is protected only from "Immersion up to 1m, Test duration: 30 minutes"
it is not protected from spirts for example

      • It's IP67 rated. Spurts of water would be IP 3-6 for the second digit. 7 offers more protection than 3-6.

        • ?
          that proves my point.

edit: I had a closer look as it was a bit ambiguous, and you're right. The higher the second digit, the greater the protection, but only within each class. Immersion (7-8) is one class, sprays (3-6) is another. IPX7 doesn't necessarily imply IPX6.
