  • Nice thanks, would be interested to see what others find.

I honestly wanna get SimCity 5, but the always online and Origin requirement puts me off…maybe I'll just stick to SimCity 4.

    • -1

I'm honestly getting sick of this line. There is a perfectly reasonable explanation for it:

"real cities do not exist in a bubble; they share a region and affect one another." She goes on to say that increased connectivity to neighboring cities allows for a better experience, allowing for better trade and wider scale effects such as crime and pollution to keep synchronized across the region.[47] Bradshaw also noted the performance benefit due to the engine utilizing EA's server hardware to assist in gameplay calculations:

GlassBox is the engine that drives the entire game — the buildings, the economics, trading, and also the overall simulation that can track data for up to 100,000 individual Sims inside each city. There is a massive amount of computing that goes into all of this, and GlassBox works by attributing portions of the computing to EA servers (the cloud) and some on the player's local computer.
      —Lucy Bradshaw, SVP Maxis[47]

Look, if your net is flaky as shit, okay, thats unfortunate. But if it's reasonably good then you have nothing to complain about. It's an online only game. Just like WoW was online only. No-one complained about WoW when you had to update the client every week!

      • +4

Now that the game has been released it turns out the always online DRM was a complete disaster.
It is a perfectly valid reason for not wanting to get the game, along with the other problems the game has with very small cities and crappy business model.

      • +1

You are wrong about the wow comment. Everyone hated the Tuesday 10 hour maintenance, in the end blizz simply beated the users into submission by not giving in.

      • +2

The problem is that if you have any hiccup in your Internet, you lose hours of work. That's just unacceptable in a game like Sim City that requires hours of work. It's also a sign that you aren't actually always online, it just seems like it because you have to authenticate at login.

  • +2

Video Ezy have it for $46.71 + $2 postage
    http://www.videoezy.com.au/games/simcity-limited-edition-pc/…

    • Great find! I'll add it to the list

      • +3

FYI, Video Ezy is not Australian stock :)

  • What's the difference between limited edition and normal edition?

    • -1

There's a limited and deluxe edition, the limited edition is basically the standard edition and "limited" in the sense that it includes less.

    • +3

The limited edition will, apparently, only be available as a pre-order and includes a Plumbob Park and Heroes & Villans set on top of the "standard" offering.

Origin has a Digital Deluxe version for $99 that includes a British, French & German city set addon as well as the Plumbob Park and Hereos & Villans set. I'd assume all of this will be available later, as DLC. I can't see these addons costing $50 if you want them later, so it probably isn't a good buy.

EB Games has a Collectors Edition, at the same price they're selling the Limited Edition - $78. The Collectors Edition has the British city set addon as well as the Hereos & Villans set. Although it does not say, I think it would also include that Plumbob Park.

  • Hi,

The game is available at our website for USD 32.99
We can send just key codes or ship the box for minimal cost

    Thanks

P.S - Apologies if this is not allowed

    • is your website down??

      • Apologies,

        It's back up now

    • How long is this price going to last? Very interested but short of cash at the moment… Am I also right in assuming that the key will be emailed on the release date?

      • Till 7th March
Please do check other titles too

        • +1

OK, I've put my order through so fingers crossed. If all goes smoothly I'll be making more orders in the future!

        • I purchased a copy as well? When will the keys be emailed out?

        • +1

          Friday, 8th March :)

    • does the box include the game cds?

      • Yes, if you decide to get it delivered, we ship the whole retail box with game DVDs. And if you want, we can mail you the CD keys in advance and also ship the DVDs so you can download and play the game while the DVD arrives :)

    • +1

      Hi folks,

We're sold out of our first lot of the game and the second lot is selling fast too. Sadly, the price has slightly shot up now to 34.99. I thought its better if I post it in advance :)

      Thanks

      • When will your next stock be shipped out?

  • +1

    Yeap.

    • Ok cool. A friend and I might bite the bullet with gamespasta

  • +1

If you need any assistance, assurance or help, feel free to contact me. Since we're promoting the website, I'll let you in on some discount codes after your first order :)

    • I'll take you up on the codes offer. I'll PM you when we've made our purchases.

    • +2

If I just want the key (no media), can I get it straight away to pre-download? Or do I have to wait until after the 7th?

      • Yea you'll have to wait. Sucks, I know but there's just nothing we can do about it. Also the release date is 8th march for us so

        • do you have far cry 3 too?

        • Yea but non-steam keys. They're plain retail keys, not steamworks enabled

        • $$$? couldn't find on your website

        • Yea we're not listing retail keys at the moment but can arrange. It'll be $20 but you'll need to follow certain steps to download and play. If interested, please email us :)

        • if i purchase simcity tonight and only want the serial code to be emailed digitally to me, whats the turnaround time? looking to play this by the weekend.

        • The release date in India is the 8th but I am hoping to get the code early myself as it is available in Australia tomorrow without any VPN messing about.

        • so if you recieve it on the 8th will the key be emailed shortly after?

        • -1

Hi, It's now 8pm on Friday and I still haven't received a key. Please advise of the current situation or let me know how I can cancel and refund so I can purchase through one of the other online options who have already released.

I noticed your website has stated that the keys will be sent within 12 hours, for the last day.

        • I have to say they've been very quick to respond to my 3 emails. So props to gamespasta for that. Though like many of you im anxiously waiting for it. They told me at 8pm AEST that keys will be emailed out in the next 4-6 hours…

So now I think we can expect keys in the next 3-5 hours… bit annoying to wait, but the price was a pretty good bargain.

        • I PM'd gamespasta earlier today and he said at 18:29 ACST:

Keys are on their way to us and will be sent out to you in 4-6 hours. Trying to cut down your waiting time as much as I can. Being a gamer myself, I know how hard that is!

Apparently he can't post in the forum more than five times a day due to being outside of Australia. So hopefully we will have our keys soon!

        • +1

Hi folks, I found Ozbargain while searching for a good SimCity CD key price and the OP was in the results. Ended up taking the chance with GamesPasta (very friendly and answered all my questions extremely quickly) and got my key an hour ago, so you guys should be receiving yours soon if you haven't already.

Just doing battle with the terrible server situation now..

    • +2

      Hiya
Ordered 3x SimCity on the 23rd of Feb

What time should I expect these keys to be sent to me?

        • +1

That's a very good point, hadn't thought of that!

          I'll be patient :)

        • I'm waiting too. Hope to hear from them soon :)

        • Sure hope I get it before I get home!

        • Three hours on and still nothing for me.

        • +1

We've sent out all the keys, hope everyone got theirs

        • Your website says the standard is now in backorder, when will the next shipment of keys be sent?

  • Looks like video ezy have bumped the price to $55 + shipping?

  • Now only $43.96 on video ezy?!

  • Thanks all for the updates, will update the page this afternoon when on main pc

  • Looks like VideoEzy is out of stock.

  • Found another source:

    http://fastcdkeys.com/pre-orders/93-simcity-limited-edition.…

$47.99 but the (key) delivery date is shown as 9 March.

  • +1

I would like to buy and play the game now, which of the sites are delivering immediately? which take paypal?

  • +1

Given this game has been pulled from amazon because they had to offer so many refunds, may want to hang on until they sort out the back end.

  • Anyone received their key from OzGameShop yet? Still waiting here.

    • I was just in JB's and they have standard edition for $64, couldn't see the limited edition though, possibly sold out?

      • i was at JB (Bourke St Melbourne CBD), they have heaps of the Ltd Edition. with the game broken atm, most likely the price will drop soon.

  • has anyone tryed cdkeyport? might try them

  • +2
    • Very good price! Can they match the price at NSW JB?

      • +1

Depends on who are dealing with but doubtful they price match themselves can we get the link to WP post.

      • i am wondering that too if anyone successfully get it to price match in Melbourne JB

  • +2

Hey i just signed up to share this with you credits to WeiKaiLe on whirlpool.

IF you go to the indian origin store here
    http://store.origin.com/store/easa/en_IN/html/pbPage.simcity…

Its is 1499 indian rupees which equates to $27 AUS. You literally wont find a legit copy any cheaper.

  • +4

I just bought the limited edition version for $27 AUD through Origin on my EA account. Cheering!

Note: On registration page I just logged onto my account and added my name, address & phone number but make sure Country is set as India. And use your cc for payment. After you proceed it doesn't confirm, but I checked my cc and charge was there, loaded up Origin and game was there.

Here's the original whirlpool post thanks to crunchynuts.

    1) Load http://store.origin.com/store/easa/en_IN/home/ThemeID.122020… in browser with no proxy.
    2) Proceed to add to cart and checkout.
    3) On the registration screen, type in your real aussie address but for the country put India.
    4) Use your credit card as per normal.
    5) Wait for emails.

    • ninja'd ;) but you were more thorough

      • I know. I should've just linked to the original post, but I wanted to say you can add it to your account straight away and not wait for the e-mail (which came pretty quickly any ways!).

      • +2

The underlying message here if of course that we should all be pirating our games more, piracy is so rampant in places like India and Russia that the local prices are set appropriately to try and tempt a few locals to actually buy the games legit rather than from street vendors…

If only we in Australia were out at the local markets picking up hand written CD-R's with our games rather than tolerating the insultingly inflated prices, we would all be better off in the long run, no?

        (note: tongue firmly in cheek)

        • I agreed with you

      • You might get banned

        • -1

Why would he get banned, for saying the truth? that we are stupid sheep's driven by media and impulsively buy rubbish 10 times the price it should be??? what, he's now encouraging people to pirate games???

          You know what, go and…

        • look up not replying to him

You know what, go and… :D

    • Thanks, just bought.

    • It's showing for 2500 rupees = 46$ AUD for me? Ahhh Digital delux…. limited is 1500. Win.

  • +1

Best (and probably the only) good thing about Origin, it's a lot easier to bypass region settings then Steam.

    • If you are not buying off steam directly there is no issue. Gifts and CD keys just work, it is only purchases that are restricted.

  • Brought it a while ago and got the confirmation email. However game did not pop into my origin's "my games" for download. Did we have to redeem the code in the email because when i did this it said that the code has already been redeemed…?

    • Tried reloading "my games"?

  • Has anyone continued to receive "Payment Authorisation Failed" when trying to buy.

Can't get past this. Using 28 degrees and can't justify using different card and paying for conversion.

    • That's the OzBargain spirit, missing out on a $20 saving because you refuse to pay $1 conversion fee.!

      • And proud of it…I guess this way I'm saving myself more by not buying at all.

  • Apart from the DRM & the PITA of connecting, I'm quite liking the game. But having to connect to the same server to continue a saved game is nonsense!! Choose your server wisely!

    • I thought the actual server didn't matter, are you saying the cloud save is per-server? Does this also apply to multiplayer…oooh, this would explain why I can never see any of my American friends online even though I know they are in an actual game (but, on a different server)…that's a very poorly explained "feature".

      • Isn't it so great that EA put all this work in to these excellent online features? I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't WORSE that previous systems.

  • which vedeo ezy in melbourne sell PC games?

  • Anyone tried buying it from the really fake looking site? I did a search for it and found a few people talking about how they'd got Borderlands 2 fine from there: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/80404#comment-1036253

  • any one know when origin gona release more licenses for 1499?

  • is it worth getting the limited edition or stick with standard? Limited edition features just seem like an extra wank of crap no1 would ever use..

    • I have the limited edition with UK building pack, I have used, or missed any of them, so in answer to your question, I wouldn't bother if the saving is important to you, the base game has plenty in it and by the time you feel like you need to plonk Big Ben, the DLC will probably be on sale cheaper than the $10 they are asking right now.

      • thanks for ur thoughts. I bought standard for 43$ delivered from videoezy_AU version. Also was hesitant to get the origin download only version as if its not my cup of tea i can always sell it on ebay etc and recoup the cost.
