Not really a great deal when you can get a Samsung 51 inch Plasma Smart 3D for $737 delivered.
    http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/samsung-ps51e550-series-5…
The difference in power usage is minimal.
    Kogan KALED503DSA - 461 kWh/annum/10 hours a day.
    Samsung PS51E550 - 640kWh/annum/10 hours a day.
    The difference is 179kWh/annum.
Based on my rate of 24.4c kWh it's $43.68 more expensive a year to run the Samsung plasma.
Which is about 12c more a day and that's for 10 hours a day.

Also it was $599 plus delivery at the start of the year -

I would pay a few extra dollars to get a LED tv instead of Plasma tv.

Also the last deal was with Groupon, this time is from the site directly

      • Why? led is just the backlighting.
Groupon or direct, whats the difference?
$49.88 extra for a 50" Kogan over a 51" Samsung is not a few dollars.

I'd rather a proper brand name TV plasma over a Kogan LED. I'd actually prefer plasma over LED regardless of brands …

    • Luke. Appliances online want $96 to deliver the Samsung plasma to Cairns.
The $737 delivered price looks to be for Sydney customers.
Its too hot for plasmas in Cairns anyhoos.

      • No it's for most places that it's free delivery. But remote places aren't, like Cairns.

      • That's less than Kogan, they want $105.14 to Cairns.
Plasma is fine in Cairns, have a friend in Cairns with an old Panasonic Plasma which would run hotter than the Samsung and it's ok.
        Try JB or Bing Lee.

It was $699 just a few days ago:

and as mentioned $599 earlier in the year … nothing against the TV but its certainly not a deal.

"Not sure if its the best deal around" This comment in the description does me, why post if you aren't sure because if you are wrong, you will get ripped apart in this community.

    • +2

And rightly so, we want people to contribute bargains not repost online companies spam email, check and see if it is the cheapest, a 1 minute Google search will confirm

    • if you are wrong, you will get ripped apart in this community.

True….. Threads like this used to be useful to discuss and inform the community about what was the best price for a particular item….
Everybody won…. community informed of the best price, poster encouraged to post again, retailer (perhaps) encouraged to provide better pricing.

      These days…
Post heavily negged by the mob….. poster banned from posting for 5 days, no incentive to post again for fear of ridicule, etc. Post disappears, so no information about cheapest pricing for the community, retailer potentially banned, or at least reputation damaged…. no incentive to work with the community. No winners….

Based on currrent threads around the internet i wouldn't buy from kogan until they sort out their customer service department.
