      BEST LINK
      http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=8135

Now just gotta wait for tomorrow to come.

      • This is what I was searching for. But in that page I can;'t add it to cart to see postage , Can someone please let me know what am I doing wrong ?
There was no add to cart anywhere in it.

      • Just fyi, best to get it from the store instead of waiting for the reservation call.
This will probably fly out the door lol.

@dealman. Got to register for the site, login and then it presents you with the store options :S.

  • anyone know the ACTUAL transfer(read/write) speed of this 32GB drive?

    • +2

I bought the 16G and I get 75MB/sec read but under 10MB/sec Write
      poor form… :(

      • Thanks for the heads up

  • Can you buy online?

    • Yup

      • sweet, thanks

  • USB Specification: USB 3.0
    Read Speed: up to 60MB/s
    Write Speed: up to 20MB/s

    • thanks, but not the one from the manufacturer(which is always in theory?)
the real world/actual transfer speed will always be slower than stated!

the guy up there(sonicentropy) said he have one and it's 10MB/s write

      • the real world/actual transfer speed will always be slower than stated!

I know i'm a broken record on this - but the Sandisk Extreme is as fast as stated - and it's DAMN fast!!!

Yes, i'm in love with this device :)

Btw, this Supersonic Xpress is a great deal for the price :)

        • Agree with sandisk in value terms, twice the price yet five times the writer, usb3 plus superior 3*50 MB/s access to data. Essentially outstrips HDDs.

  • 60MB READ & 25 WRITE.
It's in the link I supplied.

They can post whatever deal they want, whether there is any stock available is another story. I ordered the previous 16gb deals while their website was showing it was in stock, and received a confirmation email that they will contact me when order is available for pick up. Received another email later of the day,

    Dear Customer,
The product you seek is currently out of stock at the moment. Please check with us on a later date or alternative.

Not happy at all, don't believe they will honor the order. Complete BS!

    • pretty sure that's illegal though, least that's what my manager taught us ( i work in retail), long story short.. you must have or be able to get in adequate stock for a sale based and how good the saving or special is.. but clearance is different.

  • I noticed the price just dropped to $16, started early perhaps

  • How much would MSY charge for shipping? I don't want to sign up just to see a ridiculous shipping price.

    • MSY
      shipping

You're new to this, aren't you?

      • I'm popping my MSY cherry, if that's what you wanted to hear. :P

      • +1

MSY started shipping a few months ago.

        • Well damn.

        • What's their online service like?

  • Thanks. Placed an order online to pick up in branch. Received an email saying that I will get another email when it is ready to be collected.

Going to use this to create a recovery "disk" for my laptop. 16GB was a touch too small.

  • Placed my order, hopefully get it tomorrow.

The reviews on newegg doesn't look too good for the usb stick though. Everybody is complaining about quality issues.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220…

    Cheap: Yes
    Quality: Questionable
Worth it: If you don't mind losing data, then go ahead. If you do mind losing data, then best to stay away.

Use: Anything which you don't care to lose (e.g. do not put your extremely important files on it).

    • +1

Think I will skip this one after reading the reviews. It is not worth it. Happy to pay more for reliability.

    • +1

Good find with those reviews, also: speed is not USB 3 like (as compared to other USB 3 Flash drives) as this drive is very old technology AND this flash drive has some 'click mechanism' when you insert it…. and plenty people have stated that it breaks and then the drive is useless. So, don't buy this drive, even though it may be a good price for a 32GB drive.

  • +1
Half cost really due to 13 years-old tech (in addn to quality constraints).

    http://www.whoratesit.com/Faq/USB-30--40-release-dates-and-m…

San disk extreme for 113 meg/sec write (18.1%; vs. 3.2%) of 625 MB, spec bi-directional.

  • Forget the shitty, disposable USB; that laptop is going for a seriously good price.

Only question though, why is there a big asterisk next to $399? Is the sale price actually $399 outright or are they factoring Acer's cash back into that pricing (making it $499)?

Because in that case, this is probably a better buy:
    http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=9473

    • Clearly states it's $399 AFTER cashback. So "pay 498 and get 99 cashback from Acer, claim within 2 weeks of purchase…"

THe alternate might be a better deal BUT have not checked if any cashback applies.

The alternate is also half the RAM (2GB).

  • I've had the 32gb stick for over 12 months. Paid $35. I think it is reliable. Faster than any usb 2.0 I've used. And i haven't had any issues. I might go down and pick up another.

  • What a SCAM!!

I was the first customer 23 Feb this morning in South Hurstville shop. The salesperson mentioned all these usb flash drives wer gone as shown on their system. They might been reserved by other customers.

    • +1

You always have to order online to guarantee stock. Says it on every product page underneath the price.

  • Got my confirmation email from MSY ultimo this morning :) yay

good for my case as it will be mainly used for temporary transfers and my desktop is quite old :P

    cheers OP

  • Thanks OP, got one this morning :)

  • +1

    Typical msy bait advertising.

website says in stock so online pick up order placed the night before, get email 1 mins after doors open as I am arriving at the store that they have no stock.

    • Don't worry about it, these are crappy flash drives as per comments above. They are slow, the click mechanism breaks down rendering them useless, they loose data…

  • Picked one up this morning from the Varsity (QLD) store, USB 2.0 speeds not to flash…..

    Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
    Writing speed: 11.1 MByte/s
    Reading speed: 25.4 MByte/s
    H2testw v1.4

Will format using NTFS and try again later.

  • This is very good price if you happen to be passing by MSY otherwise you drive and put blow away the savings..

    What a SCAM!!2

I was under the impression that the Trade Practices Act required that when goods are advertised that "reasonable quantities had to be available for sale".

At the MSY Store at Fyshwick, ACT I was the fourth person in line after the Store opened this morning.

The three people before me did not enquire regarding the advertised 32 GB Patriot USB 3.0 Flash Drive.

I then asked regarding the flash drives and was told that they only had two and they were already reserved.

So much for MSY "Specials" through my experience they are nothing more than bait advertising as mentioned previously by noise36.

Did anyone purchase any of these flash drives from MSY today?

No go for South Hurstville and Fyshwick Stores!

  • It's not really "2 days only" if NONE of the branches are open on Sunday except the NSW branches (and even then it's only 2 of the 3 NSW branches).

    • There are a few non-NSW branches that are open on Sundays.

I went to the North Melbourne branch today and one of the attendants said that the drive was sold out within 15 minutes of the store opening. I ended up getting the SanDisk extreme even though it's rather too chunky for my liking. At least the speed is guaranteed to be top notch.

      • +1

so they bait you to their shop huh? you ended up buying a different item & paying more……

        • You can say that. It didn't really matter for me though, since I was on the fence on buying either the Patriot or the SanDisk. The Patriot being sold out made it easier for me to decide.

  • Out of stock in NSW Hurstville branch

  • Well they obviously had low stock levels, but im guessing most people here reserved one last night? i reserved one at like 11pm last night, got an email at 10.30 saying one was reserved and just went to pick it up, no dramas. Cept they didn't have anymore, out of stock as all were reserved for people. NSW Ultimo store.

  • +1

Neg because of Bait and switch,

Extremely low stock levels as per comments above

  • Neg. not in store. And they are not sure when it will be back.

  • +1

For all those who missed out, it seems like a blessing in disguise. Reviews are very negative for this product, hence the cheap price.
