  • I went to Shell Helix Australia website to find out if this was a fully synthetic lubricant but I couldn't get any additional info. The price seems pretty good and the viscosity is right for my 2002 Auto Echo but I suspect it's a semi-synthetic. If it's a semi, I won't be getting it so can anyone confirm this?

Your wasting your cash putting fully synthetic into an Echo.

For anyone with a turbo, performance vehicle etc Motul has good oils (personally i use turbo light) and Nulon has a good fully synthetic that wont break the bank.

    • It is a semi synthetic oil, but if you have an unmodified Echo then you shouldn't need a fully synthetic oil, it will be a bit overkill for your car.

  • full syn dont cost 24 dollars…do you really even need full? if so HX9 is your only choice

  • i doubt its even a good semi synth

its not a full on performance oil

  • Note some claimed "fully synthetic oil" is not actually so but of a lower grade. From my research & friend's advice, I trust Mobil 1 to be among the best full syn there is. A Sydney importer sells this stuff for about $12 per litre (+/- 50c) plus shipping fee or pick-up.

  • Would this be good for a toyota camry with 155,000km on da clock?

    • should be ok. as long as right viscosity.

      • How do you tell which is the right viscosity for your car?

        • It should say in your cars manual book but if you lost it or can not be bothered looking for it, general rule of thumb is under 100k 10W-40 or 5W-30 depending on if it is a standard(10W-40) or performance/4WD(5W-30).
100k-200k will be a 15W-40 and above 200k will be a 20W-50. Like I said this is just a general rule of thumb for most 4 cylinder cars and your car might be slightly different so if you have it check your manual book.

        • check your manual, or even ask toyota what they will put in your car. they arent shy to give you the information. if im not wrong, there is even a reference book inside super cheap auto that will tell you the grade of oil for your car.

        • i thought 10w40 and 15w40 would not make any difference in Australia, actually 10w is better in Winter start and can protect engine.

  • what type of engine oil is good for ford falcon bf 2006 , for better fuel economy is it 5w-30 or 10w-40 ????
    any suggestion???

10w40 would be a better choice.

      • No for better fuel economy 5W-30.
