Aldi Mobile

Just got the Aldi catalog for March 06.

In it there is a little advert that says

"Stand by your phone, something new is calling Aldimobile coming soon 06/03/13"

Anyone have any insights like network etc??

Its just under the handsets that they are promoting this week on page nine.

The handset deal is listed here

  • Maybe you will be required to assemble your own phone, ah no that's Ikeamobile.

    Should be interesting.

  • maybe they'll have sims available for those interested in becoming customers ? (Kogan!)

  • There's a more informative thread on it on whirlpool, maybe you started that one? http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2063876

    • After reading that it seems like it maybe a Telstra resold network.

BTW TLC and RR are not the same. While we have both used the same quote as that was all that was in the catalog

    Counting down on the website:

    http://aldimobile.com.au/

I wonder whether it would also offer 60 day satisfaction guarantee.

    • I wonder whether it would also offer 60 day satisfaction guarantee.

Imagine how much abuse it would get if they did.

    • @ aldi Countdown
weird only showed up on IE v10 not FF v18 :)

      • Works for me, well FF19, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for you. Did you turn off Javascript or something?

        • @ greenpossum-thanks for the info…seems to be enabled.

  • Their service will run off Telstra's 3G network & there will be 3 plan options.

Pay as you go prepaid plans with $15 or $30 credit (365 day expiry) and a $35 per month plan (no lock-ins) which gives you unlimited calls, voicemail and text/mms + 4GB data. Standard rates are 12c/min calls/voicemail, 12c/txt, 35c/MMS, 5c/MB.

Kogan mobile are still cheaper @ $29 for the unlimited plan with 6GB data on the same Telstra 3G network.

Looks to be a fantastic deal with Aldi using Telstra 3G network and charging Amaysim prices eg if using pre paid longlife plan:
    Telstra 3 minute call = $2.73 vs 36c
    Data Telstra = $2mb vs 5c

    Goodbye Amaysim (Optus)
    Hello Aldi (Telstra)

  • Would ALDI MOBILE be available in SA since we do not (currently!) have any ALDI's??

    • I suppose that would depend on whether you can buy a SIM without going to a store. Also recharge. I don't see why that would be ruled out but why not wait a day and see.

    • Yes because you can order on line
